Why We Like The Sturmfist 4 Finger Glove
With headquarters in Minnesota, 45NRTH knows it's not always mild and sunny winter weather out there. So, when we're set on logging countless miles through the winter, we prepare ourselves by pulling on our winter kit and the Sturmfist 4 Finger Glove. It delivers comfort and dexterity by using superior fabrics and insulation technologies. A water-resistant goat leather palm is supple and grippy for purchase over our bars, and the Merino wool liner naturally fights that clammy feel we aim to avoid.

Pretty good winter glove
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I've been pretty happy with these gloves for most of my winter escapades. They breath pretty well, regulate heat well and the construction seems sound. Can't speak to the H20 proofness. The lining isn't the softest but it is warm. The funky lobster claw works and doesn't bother me, I just wish the thumb and index finger has a little more insulation compared the other other fingers, especially the thumb. They have tended to get colder first. I haven't used them with pogies.

good cold weather glove

If you ride in cold these do well down to about 10 F. They are comfortable and not too bulky

The worst gloves I've ever purchased.
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I wore these outside for about ten minutes when the temp was 15F and my hands were nearly numb afterward. Wish I could return them but they've already been used.

I have tried a number of solutions from Pearl Izumi's P.R.O AmFib to Hestra Heli Gloves to Pogies. None of them worked well for me. The Pogies kept my hands warm, but I ride several different bikes and moving them around was a pain, so I would wind up riding without them hoping it wouldn't be to bad. The sturmfist keeps my whole hand warm even my index finger and thumb pad, which were always the coldest. The AmFib's work well for me (finger tip pads aren't cold) above about 35 degrees, but if I get at all sweaty and have to take the gloves off they are very hard to get back on as the interior starts to slide out. I have not had any indication of this with the Sturmfist. They are easy to get on and off even if my there is some sweat. I've put in about 20 hours in the backcountry with them and there is no sign of wear. I am hopeful that these will last for years. They are a little on the large size, but I think that might be why they work so well. I can wear a pair of regular cold weather gloves inside them. Maybe when it gets below 0.

Runs a Wee Bit Small
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
Apparently, I have quite large hands (normal circumference, but long fingers). Normally XL will barely fit, but XXL generally fits better. The Sturmfist XL I purchased is no exception. I am returning this glove for no other reason than finger-length fit. I think the glove is of good/excellent quality in all other regards. I will be reordering again when Competitive Cylcist gets the XXL model in stock, which the (very helpful) salesman assured me was on order for next season.
