All-terrain confidence with Olympus 6 Hike Low GTX for unmatched comfort and waterproof protection
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"Olympus 6 Hike Low GTX takes on muddy mountain trails, downpours, and marathon hikes. I love the room in the FootShape toe box—it gives my feet freedom while the Vibram Megagrip outsole keeps me glued to slick rocks. The GORE-TEX lining sheds deep puddles and the plush cushioning means I finish long treks with happy knees. It’s my pick for comfort and all-conditions grip, no matter how gnarly the route gets."
For canyon scrambles and alpine miles alike, we turn to the Olympus 6 Hike Low GTX for dependable all-day performance and weatherproof trail resilience. Altra delivers its signature FootShape comfort with a supremely wide and roomy toe box, making high-mileage days more enjoyable from first step to last. The robust, leather-and-GORE-TEX upper shrugs off wet brush and surprise showers, so we never need to call it quits early.
While the supportive collar locks in a stable fit even on tilted terrain, it’s the plush compression-molded EVA midsole and max cushioning that cushion joints even under a heavy pack. Underfoot, Vibram Megagrip confidently bites into loose scree and slick stone, keeping us surefooted wherever the trail leads. With the Olympus 6 Hike Low GTX, adventure never stops when the clouds roll in.

I really dislike these clumsy shoes. There are unpleasant when hiking uneven terrain, for me anyway, just too wide, too much leverage they torque and just feel bad, insensitive, awkward; the sole is too stiff for the width.

Bought to walk the West Highland Way. No blisters, no wet feet and no sore feet!! Wet in places and rocky in lots of places along the WHW, but had snug warm feet in a roomy toe-box. Worth the price? Totally!!

Incredibly durable and waterproof
I live in Alaska, and its wet--almost every day, either from dew or rain, and its muddy. I am very hard on these shoes, and they have held up incredibly well after months of abuse. I do wax them also.

Super support and comfort
The width is great, allows my foot to move without cramping. This is important to mitigate pain that can develop in my metatarsal area. This still allows me to lock down my foot comfortably with maximum support including the heal. Highly recommended.

Happy feet = happy hiker
My first pair of Altra's and I, (along with my feet), could not be any happier. About 50 miles in on this pair, ZERO complaints. Definitely buying a fresh pair before my AT attempt next year. 10/10!

Dreamy. My first Altras after a lifetime of crammed toes
If you are new (like me) to zero/low drop shoes, be prepared for sore legs the first week as you stretch. So far I have hiked, paraglided, lounged, and done office work in these shoes. I don't even think about them, and at the end of the day my feel still feel great.

Good shoe...with an odd squeak
I like these shoes. Cushy just like the Olympus Trail Runners but waterproof. Only issue is the right shoe squeaks. It does it on all surfaces. Guess I'm not sneaking up on anyone .

I would buy these again! Great, comfortable show!
I wear these every day as a work shoe, and got the Gore-Tex for waterproof. I hate wet feet. Everything is great about these shoes...and highly recommend.

Passed the test of my 100+ mile trek through Europe!
Just came back from completing the Tour Du Mont Blanc! A 100 mile hiking trek through the mountains of France, Italy and Switzerland. Super comfortable, no blisters and the water proof helped a ton through many water crossings. Definitely would recommend!
