MAGIC SPEED 4 delivers carbon-plated propulsion in a light, fast training shoe
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I've put serious tempo miles on the MAGIC SPEED 4 and it’s the perfect balance of race-day energy and daily durability. The carbon plate adds a punch to toe-off, but it still feels forgiving enough for longer runs. It’s the secret weapon for fast days when I don’t want to destroy my legs."
We chase faster splits and smoother strides, and the ASICS MAGIC SPEED 4 helps us do it all without compromise. Built for runners who want race-day responsiveness in an everyday package, this lightweight shoe combines a carbon plate with smooth cushioning to energize every workout from intervals to long runs.
ASICS pairs a full-length carbon plate with FF BLAST PLUS cushioning and a TURBO foam top layer, creating a ride that’s lively yet protective. The lightweight engineered mesh upper adds breathability, while the refined fit keeps our foot secure at any pace. Whether we're working through training blocks or toeing the start line, the MAGIC SPEED 4 is built to perform.

Feet are very happy!
I bought the pink shoes in a women's size 11. I have never used this type of Asics shoe before----I have plantar fasciitis and heel spurs and typically wear Asics DynaBlast. I wasn't sure at first if my feet would like these for running, but so far so good! I have been running quite a bit and my feet feel great afterwards. They are very light weight and have an interesting rocking motion to them. I would definitely get this shoe again!

Happy but could be wider
I've always worn the Gel-Kayano but decided to try the Magic Speed 4 because it seemed to favor my foot better since my shoes wear on the back outside heal. I'm getting used to the new shoe but it does not have as much room in the toe area as the Kayano. Next time I will order a wider shoe or a men's version.

My favorite running shoe right now
I'm on my third pair of these shoes and absolutely love them! I put over 400 miles in each of my previous pairs, and even then felt really comfy. They're definitely a more responsive ride, but the stack height & plate make them feel so nice and bouncy. I will note that I usually wear a womens 9 in Asics (and most running shoes) but did size up to a 9.5 in my second pair and liked that better.

Average
I bought these as I loved the color and wanted to try a different style. They are ok, the comfort of other asics are better.

Need to break in, then great. Men’s colors>womens
Take a while to break in - they kinda slap and are stiff at first, but then they become amazing. The shows I reach for daily for a 5-10 mile run. Very impressed with fit and traction - I wear on road, dirt roads and even Colorado Mtn trails! But why oh why must women’s colors always be less than men’s? A better black and two gorgeous blues only available in men’s. But women get to pick from very light tones destined to be dirty day one or something with a shade of pink. Let’s get better parity of offerings ASICS!

Tight, awkward toe box
I usually run a 5k minimum each morning. I tried these for a training run and found them to be so unbearably uncomfortable that I couldn’t finish. The toe box is narrow and angled sharply so there was pressure on the outside of my feet and the shoes felt like they were burning. Initially, I wondered if the carbon plates caused the heat but I don’t have the same problem with the 2nd pair of carbon plated shoes I tried.

Bring back magic speed 3
Muchorefer Magic Speed 2. The 4 is much less flexible and much harder to run full out in. Also, much tighter and a little bit more narrow in the width which bothered the top of my foot.

Comfy and speedy!
Nice upgrade from my Saucony Endrophin Speed 3’s, my previous go-to for speed work and half marathon distance. I ended up finding ASICS’ Metaspeed Edge+ (never tried their Paris version) too harsh for my feet but the way these Magic Speeds are constructed, this carbon plate feels better, hardly “feel” it with the nice cushioning. Have only used for a few speed workouts but so far so good! Feels light, cushy enough but not unstable, promotes good toe-off, overall a great peppy shoe so far.
