So comfortable right out of the box!
This is my second pair of Astral sneakers, and I LOVE them! They fit me perfectly and I can walk forever in them.

Not a true "level footbed" design
I ordered two Astral models, the Tri-Mesh 2.0 and Techyak. Kept the Techyak, returned the Tri-Mesh. Although I liked the look of the Tri-Mesh and most of the design features, the shoe has one substantial design flaw that many barefoot hikers like myself will not like: the cup-shape of the molded sole has a raised ridge on the instep that bulges up into the arch of the foot (contrary to the "level footbed" advertised by Astral). Hikers with high arches might not notice this, but those with flatter feet are likely to find this uncomfortable (if not painful) and contrary to a "level footbed" feel. I have the same issue with the Techyak insert (which also has an arch bulge), but with that model I can just toss out the Astral inserts and use flat Spenco inserts instead.

Based on other reviews, I bought these for a recent trip to Utah, hiking the big five. Specifically for the Narrows hike from the top down (16 miles in the river) and they worked perfect with 2mm neoprene socks. Over 100 miles hiked it Utah & was very happy with this shoe. Drained water well & did a pretty good job of keeping the fine sand out. Fits true to size. I have low ankle bones, so to prevent rubbing, a small heel lift did the trick.

Awesome Hiking Shoes!
Great quality hiking shoes! They are very durable with great traction! Most hiking shoes are heavy and these are lightweight and very comfortable. Highly recommend!

Great shoes
Most comfortable hiking walking shoes. Wore them in Ireland sometimes with socks and sometimes without. They were comfortable supportive and light and a total winner on the trip. My girlfriend also bought the same pair for the trip. Would totally recommend.

Great Dual Purpose Shoe - Hiking/Wading
These are great for backcountry fly fishing! I use them to hike miles in to basecamp and then also as my wading shoe for fishing. Great ground feel, super light, and quick drying. Have put more than 50 miles on them so far and are holding up great.

The Best Disc Golf Shoe Ever.
I've had a pair of these for about a year. I bought them playing disc golf, and I wanted something that had excellent grip even when wet, extra toe protection because I tend to drag the toe of my shoe when I drive, and were quick drying. I've tried dozens of different shoes over the past fifteen years looking for the perfect shoe. This delivers like nothing else.

Performance and Comfort
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I took these TR1 Mesh 2.0 Water Shoe fresh out of the box on a Rafting Trip down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho with Oars. They performed in the water as expected and I took several hikes of up to 5 miles on rugged steep terrain and they provided great traction on the dry as well. They were wet for 6 days in a row from the white water, rain and cool nights and they got a little stinky at the end. I popped them in the washing machine when I got home and now they are looking and smelling mostly like new. I normally wear an 11.5 in running shoes which is the size I bought and I was able to wear them with and without my neoprene socks while wading in the shallows. They may be the most comfortable shoes that I own.
