I bought this for a trip to Peru where it rained some every day, and for an entire day besides. We were outside most of the time, between 9,000 and 13,000 ft. Temps were mostly between 50-60 degrees. I was with a group of 10 people--not a high adventure crowd--who had a variety of rain solutions. This coat layers well and has some breathability. Good wind protection. I was better off than those with Patagonia rain coats, most of whom got soaked. However, it isn't fully waterproof either. Given the temperature range, I would have preferred a fully waterproof jacket, but that comes at a different price point, apparently. One guy had a NRS coat--he was the driest.

I got top and bottom and wore it in fall downpours in the rocky mountains. High quality, comfortable, stylish and completely sealed out the elements. Highly recommended.

Well made. Fits well. Fairly compact. Nice features. It is the second one I have had. I wore the heck out of the first one.

Fantastic Rain Jacket

This rain jacket is stylish and very well made. I love the fit and form, its made for outdoor use and activity and you can feel it when wearing it. My puffy jacket fits under it easily and it repels rain super well, my old rain jacket would soak through with a lot of rain. Even the zippers have weather resistant seals and there is almost no exposed stitching, and all the seams are closed off well. The hood fits great when I tighten the string, it's set up to fit a climbing helmet under the hood so without tightening the draw string its too big. I love it and just bought another one for my dad who needs a new rain jacket!

Supreme rain jacket!

My favorite light and breathable rain jacket for any hiking. I likely wouldn’t take it mountaineering as the material is incredibly thin/light, but it’s great for any other outdoor activity.

Nice Jacket, But. . .

It seems like a nice jacket, but the fit around my neck is very large. It doesn't seem to be sized that way to fit a climbing helmet or ski helmet. The under-chin area when zipped up sticks out far enough that I am concerned it would catch water, if/when it rains. I really like all the other aspects of this jacket, but that was enough of a deal breaker for me.

After a disappointing experience with my old rain jacket in Norway, where it failed to withstand, heavy rain, even with a fresh DWR coating, I knew it was time for a new rain jacket. The Black Diamond Fineline Stretch Shell has proven to be a dependable choice. It has performed well in Colorado's unpredictable mountain storms, keeping me dry, even in wind-driven downpours.

Great Fit, Keeps me Dry!!!

The jacket fits great and kept me completely dry during a heavy rain while golfing last week. The flexible, stretchy material made it easy to move without restricting my swing. At 5'10" and slightly overweight, the medium fit me well - snug but comfortable thanks to the stretch. Highly recommend this jacket for anyone who needs full range of motion while staying dry.
