Infinity Cord delivers ultra-light strength with seamless Dynex durability for alpine efficiency
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I use the Infinity Cord as my go-to alpine cordelette. It’s ridiculously light, doesn’t stiffen up like traditional nylon cord, and the seamless Dynex loop makes it fast to deploy and easy to untie—even after it’s been loaded. It's minimalist gear at its best."
We pack the Black Diamond Infinity Cord when ounces matter and reliability is non-negotiable. Designed to streamline our alpine system, this continuous-loop cord lets us build anchors, extend belays, or equalize gear placements without the bulk or hassle of traditional cords. The construction skips stitching altogether, using looped Dynex fibers to create a seamless, strong, and flexible system that’s ready for the harshest rock and ice.
With a slim 4.5mm diameter and a breaking strength of over 22 kN, the Infinity Cord punches well above its weight. It’s compact enough to stash anywhere on our harness and supple enough to handle with gloves. From fast-and-light ascents to high-stakes multi-pitch routes, it’s the kind of gear we trust to disappear into the system—until it’s the most important thing we’ve got.

Thin and supple with good feel
I’ve used this cord primarily as a rap extension, but also occasionally to thread chalk stones/pinches. It’s been great. Compared with other similar products, it has a good feel, knots well and is much less stiff. The “infinity” idea is a little overhyped, and like other similar products it does have a pretty clear splice that you need to take care to keep out of the way. Compared with some of the early products on the market, the infinity cord is thinner, and knots set harder than products made with aramid. After a couple months of use it’s holding up well, and seems like it will be a durable product.
