Spark Mittens blend waterproof warmth with leather durability for deep winter riding

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"These are my go-to mitts for storm days. They’re warm without feeling clunky, and the BD.dry insert has kept me dry even in wet, heavy snow. The leather shell breaks in nicely over time, and I really appreciate the internal finger slots that give me more control than a standard mitt."

From stormy resort laps to powder-filled backcountry tours, we rely on the Black Diamond Spark Mittens to keep our hands warm, dry, and ready for whatever winter brings. With a rugged design built for daily use and cozy insulation that locks in warmth, these mitts carry us through long chairlift rides, deep tree runs, and mountain missions with total confidence.

The Spark Mittens feature a durable goat leather shell reinforced in high-wear zones, backed by BD.dry waterproof protection that seals out snow and slush. Inside, PrimaLoft Gold insulation and a soft fleece lining keep our hands comfortable through frigid conditions, while EVA foam padding adds impact protection. Internal finger slots boost dexterity, and the under-the-cuff neoprene closure keeps the fit snug and snow-free. Built tough but designed for comfort, the Spark Mittens are made to take on winter’s longest days.

Straight to the Alps

We used them in our first ski trip to the Alps. Really warm and comfy. We hit -15 on the alpine parts with no issue. Really recommend them for a ski holiday.

A slow burn

When I first purchased a pair of these it took me a little while to really fall in love with them. They are made well so at first them seem a little stiff, however give it a season and they will become your favorites. Once they are broken in they last for a long time and are very warm and comfortable. I say a “slow burn” because at first you’ll think they are pretty good, but when the day comes to retire them you’ll buy two more pairs. At least I did.
