Bright and light

I have not used this on any hikes yet but it seems pretty bright and its lightweight, I also like the different settings

Great Lamp

I got this mainly for backpacking, and it’s been great. Great beam patterns, easy to use, and the lockout is a nice feature. The option for dual fuel is also pretty handy. Would definitely buy another one.

Great headlamp

Super bright and works great. Really nice to have the locking ability. It works smooth and I love the way it dims. Only weird thing is the headlamp and box say it’s rechargeable even though it’s not and never said it was online. Great product though.

PowerTap is terrible "feature", had to return

I had an older Blackdiamond headlamp with the similar features but it got lost. I liked everything about this new Spot 400 headlamp except the PowerTap which is so easy to accidentally turn on. It will instantly go from your last low setting to Max Brightness and blind yourself and others while trying to adjust or turn the headlamp off. It's terrible 'feature' which you can't disable. I'll be returning this.

Good device - once you figure it out

A little finicky to use (tiny tap to activate full power drove me crazy initially) — but it is the best wearable light i have found. 4 stars for no rechargeable power option.

Perfect!

I purchased this for my husband based on an electrician's Reddit discussion board. He's blind in one eye and isn't a spring chicken anymore, so he needs as much light as possible. "Regular" headlamps weren't cutting it. This one "is amazing", "best I ever had", and I see him wearing it for all his projects around the house. It seems well-made. I hope it lasts. I foresee us purchasing the rechargeable battery!

Not bad

I prefer my older spot but this one is pretty good. I don’t like the thin headband. Luckily my old headband fit on it with no problem. Build quality seems a little cheaper. The new button scheme didn’t take long at all to figure out.

Failed at weak point

Both our Spot headlamps broke in the exact same place in less than a year. The fail point is the hinge to direct the light up or down.
