Terminator Gloves maximize dexterity and grip for ice, mixed, and alpine climbing

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"These are the gloves I trust when I need precision. They’re warm enough for most ice days but still thin enough that I can place screws, tie knots, and grip my tools confidently. The seamless pinky design really cuts down on pressure points when I’m hanging on my axes."

On steep ice or tenuous mixed routes, we want gloves that move with us—not against us. That’s why we climb with the Black Diamond Terminator Gloves, a lightweight, waterproof option built for sending hard in variable conditions. From hanging on ice daggers to transitioning on rock, these gloves deliver the dexterity we need without sacrificing protection.

The BD.dry insert seals out wet ice, while a fixed fleece lining and 40g Thinsulate insulation provide light warmth for milder days. A goat leather palm with reinforced grip ensures reliable tool handling, and the pre-curved, climber-specific fit feels secure and natural on technical terrain. With four-way stretch shell fabric, a TPU knuckle patch for durability, and seamless pinky construction to reduce pressure points, the Terminator Gloves are purpose-built for high-output climbing where control is everything.

Incredible gloves

These replace an older version of BD Dry gloves. In the cool, wet Winters, these are lifesavers. I wear them all day and love ‘em. Highly recommend!

gloves are much lighter than the terminators of 4+ years ago

I was trying to replace one of my favorite pairs of ice climbing gloves which finally blew out in every finger beyond repair. BUT the current Terminator is much lighter than the medium/heavy weight Terminator of the past. Its more akin to the lightest of the old BD ice gloves (can't recall name), and similar in weight to the old Camp Gecko Lite, and maybe a little heavier than the current OR Stormtracker. ALSO, sizing fits very differently than the current punisher and the current soloist and the old Terminator. Per BD's size chart, I am now a small in their gloves (5 years ago I was a medium I think). But the small Terminator is too small for me to fit my hand, whereas the small Punisher fits me but tight, and the small Soloist is almost too big. more on this in my review of the Punisher. Terminator looks like a well made glove (much like the old one), and I really like the longer cuff and velcro strap on this version, protect better and seems more durable when the velcro strap on my old terminators nearly tore off several times over the 4 years I used them.

Better than the Arc glove

I was disheartened when I hear the BD ARC glove was discontinued. I have used the ARC for 8 years guiding and wondered what I would replace it with with dexterity and warmth top of the list. The Terminator fit this bill and has exceeded my expectations. Great fo lifting skis out of the basket but warm enought to go all day in the mountains. Top choice for the ARC replacement.

Best light insulated gloves for ice climbing

These thing are sweet. On my second pair and if I had not burnt holes in them from being to close to buddy heater I would still be on my first pair. Dexterity for grabbing screws and sinking them to attaching draws and clipping they allow you to feel through every move. They do not puff up and create over gripping pressure combine with the pre-curve fingers man the best gloves. Have had them in 0° and had not had to switch gloves between leading and at belay. Waterproof, grippy leather and even a a spot to wipe your nose. A must have in your kit. I have camp geckos as well and came back to these killer. They will keep you saying I'll Be Back.

almost

the fingers are just a weird length - even in a size large i feel like they are bit short. but i guess i have skinnyish hands and long fingers. anyways, these are a daily driver glove for leading steep ice in cold and dry-ish conditions. they are well made enough, though like all ice climbing gloves, overpriced and consumable, meaning I hope they last 2 seasons if i am lucky...

expectedly excellent gloves

I have a similar model from Black Diamond, the Panisher model, but after one very difficult mixed climb in which I had to clear the terrain of snow and ice a lot, they were badly damaged, but now there is a terminator and I am fully prepared again!

Poor fit

Even though I measured my hand and fit a medium in other BD gloves these did not fit. Insulation felt like what I was looking for, a step above my windowproof leather Hestras

Warm gloves with dexterity

Using them for winter road cycling and they keep my fingers warm down in the low 40s and I'm still able to shift easily

Great Gloves.

Look nice and fit nice. I cannot wait to break them out the next time it is cold outside.
