Why We Like The Trail Back Trekking Poles
We give our joints a little relief with the Black Diamond Trail Back Trekking Poles. The three-section design and reliable FlickLock extension system means we can pack them down and throw them on the pack when we need our hands free during those steep, scrambly sections of trail. We like that the molded rubber grips have a soft EVA foam extension so we can choke up on them when we're side-hilling.

Flick Locks Arrive Over Tightened
Just received my new poles and the flick locks are WAY over tightened. Couldn't open them. . . hurt my thumbs trying. I loosened them with a screw driver and they seem ok now, but why would they come with the flick locks so over tightened that a grown man (with strong thumbs!) can't open them? This is a quality assurance issue that really should be checked before they leave the factory/warehouse.

Used, Defective, and Zero Compensation
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
I am extremely disappointed with this purchase from Backcountry.com. I received Black Diamond Trail Back trekking poles that were clearly used and defective, not new. The product arrived without the original Black Diamond packaging, and the essential winter baskets/ends were missing. Crucially, the pole tips show visible wear and damage, making them unsafe and unreliable for the trail. I contacted customer service regarding the defective and incomplete product, but Backcountry.com failed to offer any adequate compensation for the damage and inconvenience caused. Selling used/damaged gear as new and then refusing to resolve the issue is unacceptable. I strongly advise against purchasing this item from this seller due to the poor product quality control and lack of customer support.

Solid, reliable poles
When you need to be ready for anything and can afford a few extra ounces this is definitely the way to go. [And at 200 lbs an extra ounce or two is a silly worry!]

These work great
These have held up well, through the Grand Canyon, several ultra runs, and plenty of casual hikes. Comfortable and durable, what more can you ask for?

Tough and durable
These poles helped me into the crater of Mt. St. Helen's. They are tough and durable. I'll have to replace the mud baskets due to the harsh terrain but other than that they did an awesome job.

Light and sturdy
I've used these poles for 3 mountains so far: -Pichincha Integral: 12 km treck at avg 4500 meters -Imbabura: 7km treck with +1500 meters elevation change -Iliniza Norte: summit at 5100 meters So far, great. they are light, easy to pack and stow. They feel sturdy and well constructed. Tip seems durable
