Ghost 17 Wide Running Shoe offers cushioned comfort and a spacious fit for consistent road miles
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve always loved the Ghost for its smooth ride, and the wide version is a game-changer for all-day comfort. No pinching, no pressure points—just soft, balanced support and a roomy toe box that’s great for long runs or higher-volume feet."
With the Brooks Ghost 17 Wide Running Shoe, we get the same soft, consistent ride of the standard Ghost 17—now with extra room through the forefoot and midfoot for enhanced comfort and fit. This version is perfect for those who need more space without sacrificing structure, stability, or the plush cushioning Ghost is known for.
Updated with DNA LOFT v2 foam, the midsole delivers a smooth blend of softness and responsiveness, while added cushioning zones in the heel and forefoot ensure reliable comfort through every phase of your stride. The wide platform keeps things stable, and the engineered mesh upper made from 59% recycled content rounds out the ride with breathable, supportive coverage.

Here's what customers have to say
The product provides excellent comfort, cushioning, and support, with a soft and responsive feel. It has a neutral heel-to-toe drop and works well with orthotics. However, some users experienced issues with the heel collar causing discomfort or blisters, and the outsole wearing down quickly. Additionally, a few customers were disappointed with the limited color options, especially for wider widths.

tongue on shoes are very stiff and misshapen
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] comfortable but the tongue on the shoes are very stiff and have a fold in them that cuts into your upper foot. Hoping breaking them in will help, but they should be packed with something inside the shoes so the tongue doesn't crinkle and then it's very hard to straighten out

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] All my tennis shoes are brooks and these are by far the most uncomfortable shoes I’ve ever put on my feet!!!!

Great Shoes
Most comfortable running shoes I’ve had. Like running on cushions

Good shoe for my big, wide foot. I wore Dyads and this is the first acceptable Brooks replacement. The cushion is nice, but at times makes it feel less stable. I'm frustrated by the lack of colors in my size (13 4E). I don't want bright orange soles!

Purple Ghosts Pass the Eye Test
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Honestly, I always choose the Ghosts because of comfort level, longevity, and how I have reduced injuries since switching to them. What makes this specific pair stand out is the color, though. The amount of positive comments I receive on the design and color appeal is like no pair I’ve ever had. Part of that is men’s Ghosts have never come in purple (our high school’s primary color. As a coach, these paired nicely with our athletic gear and they were a hit!

Ghosts have become too narrow
Unfortunately these have become too narrow for me. I’ve worn the ghosts since the 13, but I had to go to 2E for the ghost 16 and now even the 4E for the ghost 17s have become too narrow. I really love the ghosts and hope they go back to the wider box so I can keep wearing them!

Great improvement over Ghost 16
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The cushioning is deeper compared to the 16. The stride is super comfortable and rolls well. The elongated and stiffer back makes it easier to put on the shoe, while less likely to fold over. The loop on the tongue also makes it easier to put on the shoe and makes it less likely to fold over.

Brooks is the best
I have run in only Brooks shoes for over 20 years, 15 marathons and innumerable walks. No need to change now.
