Octane 25 Hydration Pack keeps gear and hydration close for high-output adventures

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I’ve used the Octane 25 for fast-paced ridge scrambles and long trail days. The breathable mesh keeps it cool, and I love how the hipbelt pockets and shoulder strap storage let me grab fuel or my phone without ever stopping. It’s got everything I need, plus space for poles and layers when the weather shifts."

The Octane 25 Hydration Pack from CamelBak is built for high-energy hikes, long trail missions, and anything in between. We count on its smart storage layout and low-bulk hydration for keeping up with our fast-moving pace. With a 2-liter Crux™ reservoir and multiple external stash zones, this pack offers reliable, on-the-go access to fluids, layers, and trail snacks—no digging required.

Designed to maximize comfort and efficiency, the Octane 25 includes breathable 3D mesh, dual sternum straps for bounce-free fit, and a ventilated hip belt that helps transfer load weight while adding storage. With 13 total exterior pockets, secure pole attachment, and Quick Stow™ compatibility, this pack blends hydration, access, and comfort into one trail-ready design. Whether you're chasing mileage or climbing ridgelines, this pack keeps pace—and then some.

Does not work for chubby

Does not work for chubby guys. Can not even return it. The return label is not viewable to print on the download. What a horrible purchase i made.

Great shipping speed and easy

Great shipping speed and easy access to unwrap and plug-in. Took it to Europe and made good use of it. I was expecting it to be bigger but it serves a good function the way it it designed. My only discomfort comes from the straps at the upper shoulder area. They are a little uncomfortable if you dont have the chest clips in

Pretty disappointing.

The shoulder straps are designed for a thin person, and the pockets are not as accessible as they appear. The hip belt lands around one's stomach rather than their hips, so is practically worthless for transferring weight to the hips, and the pockets are so far back towards the pack as to also be unaccessible without taking the pack off. I am debating just cutting the hip belt off. The hydration pack seems fine, as most Camel baks are; I hope it doesn't sweat condensation as other reviews indicate. I bought this pack for a special 10 day tour, and hope that it at least works as a hydration pack.

Only 1 modification needed to this pack

I love this daypack with just 1 exception - the shoulder straps need to be padded. I ordered some attachable shoulder straps from a different company to use with my pack, which helps - but in a future design it would be great to have padding as a part of this pack, as it has absolutely everything else that I LOVE: Many front & hip accessible pockets for phone, snacks, etc., and outer mesh pockets for storage of items that you need readily accessible. Highly recommend this daypack!

Very thoughtful pockets on the inside.

Over the years I've owned a number of Camelbak hydration packs, and a few off-brand ones as well. My estimation on these is, you get what you pay for. Camelbak gear is more expensive than others, but then the quality of the gear is better too. I purchased this one because I needed better gear management than my current solution. This Octane 25 delivers with some very welcome innovation in the pockets inside. They allow me to place the small quick-use items in the stretch-mesh pockets and I am now way more efficient at getting what I want. While this is not designed for lashing heavier equipment, I have been able to easily attach my travel tripod where they show trekking poles should go.

My family has several scheduled

My family has several scheduled hikes this year and I am really looking forward to using this bag for. I have taken it out once so far and was very happy with the fit and the distribution of the weight.

Great pack for smaller sized people

I love the design and construction of this pack. My only issue with it is that it only comes in one-size. I am 6'2" feet tall and the 'waist belt' comes right across my upper belly. Somewhere in between my sternum and belly button. I do understand that this is not a traditional backpack, but more of a hybrid pack/vest combo so the waist belt may not be intended to be positioned where a regular waist belt would be. I ended up giving the pack to my girlfriend who is 5'4" tall and it fits her perfectly.

Just what I needed out of a light hiking pack

The pack is super light and rode well even when fully loaded with my day mountain gear. The water system is improved over previous CamelBak packs I have had over the years.
