Big Basin 15 Sleeping Bag combines mummy warmth with roomy comfort for cold nights

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"The Big Basin 15 Big + Tall Sleeping Bag offers the perfect balance of warmth and space. Its hybrid shape keeps me cozy down to 15°F, and the fleece-lined footbox adds a layer of luxury. The ripstop cover is tough enough for rugged adventures, and the two-way zipper is great for venting when the weather warms up."

Cold nights are no match for the Big Basin 15 Big + Tall Sleeping Bag. Designed for campers up to 6'6", this hybrid sleeping bag combines the warmth of a mummy design with the roomy comfort of a rectangular bag. Coletherm hollow polyester insulation locks in heat, while the Thermolock draft tube and double-batt quilting construction eliminate cold spots to ensure cozy sleep even in temperatures as low as 15°F.

When the weather warms, the two-way zipper provides ventilation options, and the adjustable hood offers a customizable mix of warmth and airflow. Thoughtful details like a fleece-lined footbox and snag-free ZipPlow zipper add comfort and convenience, while the durable ripstop cover ensures season after season of reliable use.

It’s warm and spacious but bulky — not for backpac

I used the Coleman Big Basin 15 sleeping bag in California — both in the mountains and near the coast. Really impressed! Comfort is excellent — soft and cozy inside. Great insulation — stayed warm even on chilly nights in the Sierra. The fit is roomy, even with extra layers. Feels solid — great durability after multiple trips. It’s not super compact, but packability is decent for car camping. A reliable choice!

Great for taller campers who want warmth, space, a

As someone who’s over 6 feet tall, I really appreciated the extra length and width of this sleeping bag. It’s incredibly warm even in colder conditions — the insulation is thick and retains heat very well. The materials feel high quality and it’s held up nicely after multiple uses. It’s not the most compact for backpacking, but if you’re car camping, it’s perfect. Zippers work smoothly, and I love the cozy flannel lining. Very comfortable for a good night’s sleep outdoors!

New Camping Bag

I just got rid of my 1972 REI sleeping bag, and wanted the next one to be large and able to handle a cold night. Backpacking weight is no longer a concern, but I still wanted something easy to pack and carry. This bag is perfect.

Stuff Sack Is Too Small

Bag is large and seems like it will be fine. Stuff sack is too small and a huge effort with compressions straps I bought elsewhere to use. Will probably have to buy a duffle bag to make it work.

Coleman Big Basin sleeping bag - a warm cuddle

Let me start by stating that I don't like mummy bags. My legs get restrained and its torture. This bag isn't a mummy. It is roomy and warm. It has a wonderful head covering that I can tighten down like a hooded sweatshirt. It is "Big and Tall" and I am not, so it cuddles me like my bed at home. The price was reasonable. Shipping was fast. I bought two so my husband could have his own.

Great sleeping bag but be careful

Hi have a few.of these and have spent hundreds of nights. The coldest I've made it was 19f with full level 4 under armor and a thermarest. Sleeping pad with a r value of 7. Putting a 0f or 15f your going to get someone killed going into those temps
