Sturdy but needs a design improvement

Sturdy bag with good quality. Flawed design, not user friendly. Zippers are a struggle to close or open. They don’t align well and are stiff and not accessible easily. Ideal for back packing trips or a weekends stay! Nice color in pink.

Awkward heavy thick coated material, hard to open

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cargo Hauler 40L 22 x 12. 5 x 9. This is really hard to work with, to open, to close, to pack. It doesn't open neatly. Also, really weird, the backpack straps are set so that when on, the zipper opening ends up at the bottom not the top, which would be a big problem if they came even slightly open. And the straps are on the side with the opening, I guess that is safer, but they feel in the way when opening the bag. Well, I can see how that is the safest, so maybe that's fine. But the material is so thick and coated and heavy, I guess it is good for wet weather, heavy use, but really unpleasant for regular travel. It's hard to bend the edges up off the zipper. For the money I think other brands are better and less money. I guess if trekking for months it might be good, though I don't know if it wears out.

Almost perfect.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It took me to Spain/Portugal and all over the USA for dozens of business trips in the last two years, zero problems. Versatile and plenty of room; easily stuffed and fits in all bins when the big rollers everyone else has won't. One gripe: the straps cut into your shoulders when the bag is really full. Would recommend.

Performs as expected.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Can fit a good amount of things in it. Durable. Bought as a luggage that can be used as carry on with backpack straps. Great for throwing into car for road trips.

A bag true to its warranty.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought 2 of an earlier model of these for backpacking Europe in 2016. And have held up great. My husband works at a fly in camp and his has held up great Zippers work the same as the day we bought it and have great features. The waterproof fabric is starting to wear on the bottom side a bit. But after 200 travels on flights and road trips a little fabric wear is to be expected. Now that we are getting older time to get one with wheels! ;)

Seemed small at first

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this for carrying loads of small boxes in several sizes to the post office after my previous bag leaked. When I first received it, it seemed shockingly small, especially the main compartment, and really stiff. Once I tried filling it with boxes, however, it expanded to hold a decent number. Also the fit of the shoulder straps and profile when using it backpack mode seemed weird at first, with the upper part sticking out way further than the older backpack I'm used to. And having to undo the straps to then undo the zipper to access the main compartment is cumbersome if you happen to be wearing it as a day pack. However, the killer design feature here is that the zipper almost never needs to be used if you're wearing it as a backpack and not carrying tiny items in the main compartment because when it's worn this way it contours to the body in a way that basically seals the zipper, unless it's raining. This means you can take it on and off and reach in without even unsnapping the straps, or you quickly unsnap the lower two straps and flip back the cover/pocket. Also, the zippered pocket that the shoulder straps go into is perfectly usable if, say, one were to buy a bottle of wine or need somewhere to put a newspaper. Brilliant design and construction all around, very comfortable to wear and very flexible in terms of fitting a variety of smaller packages.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] how about black? several of these colors on offer are certified ugly! Black doesn't show the cumulative abuse from travel.

A Great Bag

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my new 40L Cargo Hauler! Bought two for my husband and I to use on our recent trip to Prince of Wales Island in SE Alaska. Perfect for our float plane trip, traveling lite and easy to sling up on our backs to hike to our Airbnb! Many adventures in our future!

Overall great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Only complaint is the zipper for one of the end pockets isn’t smooth around an awkward 90 degree turn it has to make. Otherwise this is a very high quality duffel. Sturdy, looks great, everything seems to fit just right. Very happy. Get the packing cubes as they really fit the bag perfectly.

Eagle Creek Cargo Hauler 40L Duffel: Conquering Trips Without Conquering Your Back

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Looking for a travel bag that can handle your adventurous spirit (and maybe some rough airline baggage handlers)? Look no further than the Eagle Creek Cargo Hauler 40L Duffel in Safari Brown! I snagged this beauty for my son, a travel minimalist who goes light and fast, but still expects his gear to hold up. Let me tell you, this duffel did not disappoint. This bag is built for the bumps and bruises of travel. The fabric is a durability champion, shrugging off the abuse the airlines dished out when his carry-on dreams were dashed on a tiny Italian flight. Checked bag blues? Not with this duffel! But functionality isn't its only flex. The padded straps provide the perfect balance of comfort and packability. They're supportive enough for backpack mode, yet sleek enough to disappear when you need a classic duffel carry. Let's just say, my son was "very stoked" (his words, not mine) about the design. This duffel is ready to roam the globe. Whether your adventures are weekend getaways or multi-month expeditions, the Cargo Hauler 40L combines durability, nimbleness, and undeniable style. It's the perfect companion for the traveler who wants to explore the world, not just survive their luggage.
