Here's what customers have to say
The cycling computer offers a large, high-quality display with good visibility and a range of useful features, including hazard warnings, navigation, and customizable data screens. Battery life is also reported to be excellent. However, some users have experienced connectivity issues, software bugs, and unexpected shutdowns. While the device is considered a significant upgrade, a few reviewers noted concerns with the audio alerts and default screen layouts.

Excellent Cycling Computer.
This my 5th edge in the series. The Edge 1050 is an excellent computer that is packed with features, and the updates to the screen and processing speed make it very nice to use. It comes with a heavy price tag, if you want to take advantage of everything a computer like this can do, and can afford it, you'll love it. My only down side is the brightness of the screen & sleep mode. Screen can crack if using on a MTB bike. Overall I am extreamly satisfied with the Edge 1050

Advanced
I bought the Edge 1050 with the hope of it measuring Distance, Time, Pace-Speed while riding bike. I have a habit of buying basic of something with out it being full featured and then having to upgrade. I bought the 1050 to solve that problem. Unfortunately I've found it to be too advanced for my immediate needs. Been away from cycling and running for a few years due to Prostate issues. Had Lazer surgery and can now resume cycling and running. Training for 25 mile very hilly Closer to Free cancer ride 6 Sep. 25. I ride various routes and terrain. At this time all I need is Distance, Time and Speed. After the event and living in Connecticut, I'll spend the fall getting familiar with the 1050. Finally, at this this time I don't need a device to plan routes for me. Just give me the basic above information and I'll plan the route. I'm quite sure the 1050 is a excellent product but, too much for me to absorb at this time. Yes, I did try using it. It was frustrating to get it to do what I wanted.

Finally got the 1050 after moving up from the 2011 model. I like all the new data, bigger screen, brightness and pairing it with the Varia is a life changer.

Outstanding performance
I really like the large colored screen. It is very easy to read while riding even with 7 blocks. Super fast up dates for Elevation and the other fields.

When I need situational awareness, 1050 distracts
Short version: This is my 4th Garmin cycling computer. It is the worst. Garmin's beeps and red banners have me staring down at it when it thinks there's a hazard nearby, which is EXACTLY NOT what a cyclist needs to be doing in that situation. The 1050 is a source of nuisance distractions, and a negative for safe alert cycling.

I can read it without my glasses
I have only had my 1050 a few weeks and it is the bomb as far as I am concerned. The bright screen and large display screen is great for my old eyes. It has more features than I will ever use but being able to read the screen and being able to hear the prompts for turns and radar alerts make it worth the investment to me. Battery life is great and the gps is quick to alter routes when changing course on a ride. All in all I am very pleased with my Edge 1050.

Great but a lot of swiping
Got my 1050 about a month ago after my 810 sadly died. Love it but a couple things I’m not crazy about. Maybe it’s me but a lot of swiping when I’m on a wrong screen to find the one I want. And to start an activity it’s the “hard button” on the bottom instead of a screen tap like my 810 did. Same for stopping. Maybe there’s another way but I haven’t found I yet. Otherwise it’s easy to read even in bright sun but text is a little small for someone who needs reading glasses.

Worked great, until...
I have been using this for 1 week with no issues. Today the 1050 got an update, and it has frozen on me twice on my commute back home from work.

Highly Recommend!!
Incredible upgrade from the Edge 820 I was using. Only complaint is it is big, and on all mounts I've tried, the buttons are tough to access as they're right up against the bars. I would suggest buttons on the sides for future models. My Di2 shifter buttons can perform some of the Garmin button functions for a partial work-around on this. Otherwise, incredibly simple user interface, loaded with new features, brilliant display even in bright sunshine, incredible battery life. Not evident when researching this purchase, is that you CAN use the 1050 to display and control your music from iPhone, which was a great surprise feature for me!
