Why We Like The TX Hike Mid GTX Hiking Boot
We've got a lot of ground to cover—and it's not easy ground either. So we need the control and comfort offered by La Sportiva's TX Hike Mid GTX Hiking Boot. It has a specialized midsole that levels our ride by stiffening the side-to-side flex without sacrificing the comfortable cushioning it offers. Plus, its GORE-TEX membrane lends loads of aeration and waterproofing so our feet stay fresh on the journey up those jagged peaks while a Vibram Mega Grip outsole clasps our feet to the ground like magnets on metal.

Defective Boots
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
I am profoundly disappointed with the quality of these La Sportiva shoes, which were received in the same order as the defective Black Diamond trekking poles. This is the second item in a single order that arrived clearly defective. Immediately upon unboxing, I noticed a severe defect on the outsole. The rubber sole, particularly within the lug pattern (tread), clearly shows bubbling (blisters/bulges). This is not merely a cosmetic issue but a critical manufacturing flaw that severely compromises the shoes' durability, waterproofness, and safety. A sole with this defect is highly likely to delaminate or fail quickly on the trail. Overall Conclusion regarding Backcountry.com Purchase: Receiving two defective items (these shoes and the trekking poles) in one order points to serious issues with quality control and inventory management at Backcountry.com. Selling items of this quality at full price is unacceptable. I demand an immediate refund or new and defect-free product, along with adequate compensation for the significant inconvenience caused.

Great boots! Comfort. Durability. Value
These boots are a great value! Waterproof. Tough and [relatively] light weight. Tough lugged sole, but plenty of flex. The material used for the upper allows just enough respiration that I broke them in over 3 days of 85-90 degree weather. Warm, but not sweaty. It fits my med-narrow foot well. Plenty of room in the toe box without feeling sloppy. Comfortable footbed, but I needed slightly more arch support - fixed with an insert.

Great out of the box
Comfortable right out of the box. Hiked some here in the desert SW. I look forward to wearing them on more extended experiences backpacking this summer. Have enjoyed LaSportiva trail running shoes for several years and am just as happy with these.

Runs Small
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- 43/44
- Height:
- 5' 11"
- Weight:
- 175
The first pair I ordered ran small. Normally a 43, I returned them (for free!) and had a 44 pair sent and that did the trick. I'm taking away a star because of LA Sportiva's poor measurements, but giving the star back because Backcountry was so quick and easy to deal with in getting them exchanged. And the boots? The few walks I have had in them so far have been fine and I imagine they will be equally fine on a hike.

Shrunken boots
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- 11
- Height:
- 6' 1"
- Weight:
- 185
I really liked these the first couple days I wore them. They were very comfortable with a wide toe box, great outer soles, good toe protection. However, after a couple weeks of wearing these ( they are my daily work boot) the tongue on the left boot would slip down and pinch my ankle. It would never stay in the proper place. My solution was to just not tie the boots as tight. Not ideal. But not a huge deal. Then a week or so later I noticed that they seem to have substantially shrunk. They are on the borderline of being too small now. I’m not sure why this would happen. I’m not too happy with these boots.
