Summit Club is Backcountry’s two–tier loyalty program

• Summit Club (Free) – Automatic membership when you create or sign in to a Backcountry account. Benefits include a 10% off birthday gift and early access to select gear drops and promotions.
• Summit Club+ ($49/year plus tax) – 10% instant cash back on all purchases, free 2-day shipping on orders $150+, a dedicated Gearhead® Expert, a 20% off birthday gift, Partner Perks, exclusive deals, and early access to promotions.

• Summit Club: Create (or sign in to) your Backcountry.com account—no fee.
• Summit Club+: Purchase the membership online, in a Backcountry store, or have a Gearhead place the order for you—$49/year.

$49 per year (plus tax). The fee renews automatically every 12 months unless you turn off auto-renewal in My Account or by chatting with a Gearhead.

• Earn: Get 10% back on the merchandise subtotal of eligible purchases (tax, shipping, gift cards, Seel Worry-Free Delivery, and the membership fee don’t earn). Your earned cash back will appear in your Summit Club account balance, ready to use on your next order.
• Redeem: Apply any amount at checkout online, in store, or through a Gearhead. Cash back can’t buy gift cards or pay the membership fee. Your cash back works with promo codes, sale prices, and even your birthday gift.

Yes. Use the same email address tied to your Summit Club account at checkout, or ask the associate to look up your account. Cash back posts to your balance just like online orders

Not while your Summit Club+ membership is active. If it lapses, you have 60 days to spend your balance before it’s forfeited.

When you’re signed in as a Summit Club+ member, the 2‑day option appears at checkout on orders with a $150 merchandise subtotal (after discounts). Estimated shipping timelines and free shipping offer do not apply to:

Products shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, and international orders

• PO boxes & APO addresses
• Pre-orders or back orders
• Items that must be sent by ground or freight because they are oversized, hazardous, or flammable as identified on the product page. (Examples include, but are not limited to: complete bikes, bike frames, bike wheels, travel cases, ABS airbag packs or cylinders, kayaks, kayak trailers, SUP boards, surfboards, crash pads, cargo boxes, car racks, truck bed storage, indoor bike trainers, rooftop tents, and items containing lithium batteries.)

We credit any applied cash back to your account and remove the cash back originally earned on the returned items. If that pushes your balance negative, future earnings will offset it.

Turn off auto-renew and your Summit Club+ benefits will stay active until your paid year ends. After that, your account automatically shifts to the Free tier.

You may request a full refund if you haven’t used any of the benefits. Chat or call a Gearhead to start the refund.

Look for the Gearhead section in your Summit Club Dashboard in My Account for your Gearhead’s email and phone number.

We’ll email you a single-use code in your birthday month. Summit Club members get 10% off; Summit Club+ members get 20% off. Coupon exclusions (brands, categories) are listed in the fine print in the email. The discount applies to your whole cart.

Yes! Your Summit Club + membership works on both Backcountry and Competitive Cyclist. Sign in with the same email address on either site, and you’ll see your cash back balance and free-shipping eligibility at checkout. All qualifying gear you buy on Competitive Cyclist also earns 10% instant cash back and drops into the same balance you can spend on either site.

Expedition Perks sunset on 8/13/2025, and we’re excited to usher in its next-generation replacement: Summit Club. Over the past year, members told us that the old points-for-$5 rewards system felt a little confusing and that what they wanted was something simpler—cash back you can see in dollars—plus meaningful perks like faster shipping and easier access to a Gearhead. Summit Club delivers exactly that with a straightforward 10% cash back earn rate, free 2-day shipping on qualifying orders, and your own dedicated Gearhead.

If you had unredeemed Expedition Perks $5 rewards when the program ended, we issued a Backcountry coupon code for the same amount and emailed it to you. Coupon codes expire 90 days after issuance.
