Why We Like The Marmot PreCip Eco Jacket
The Marmot PreCip Eco Jacket has become a fan favorite for a reason, boasting incredibly breathable waterproofing for trekking in wet weather. The NanoPro waterproof membrane blocks wind and water while allowing air to circulate, so whether we're pushing towards an alpine summit or walking in swampy forests, we stay cool on the move. The sealed seams keep moisture from sneaking in to our baselayers, and the adjustable hem and cuffs create a barrier from sideways blowing rain. In warm weather, we can unzip the underarm vents to allow hot air to escape, and the adjustable hood stows away into the collar for those moments when the sun breaks through the clouds, and we're rewarded with stunning views.

Lightweight & Reliable
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love my jacket because it’s so lightweight, reliable. When I need it during hikes, I just grab it out and go. Very substantial coverage for being so thin. The only drawback is the breathability. I get super sweaty after a hot humid thirty minutes, an hour. I don’t see how it could be more breathable other than opening the small ports on the back.

Worth the money!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Worked very well for 3-4 years and then the inner lining started peeling off. After that couldn't use it bcoz the peeling would stick to the shirt, skin, etc. Hiwever, till then it was worth the money spent. I want to take this opportunity to ask Marmot to bring back its excellent jeans. I still have 4-5 of them that are 10+ years old!

Marmot Precip Rain Jacket: Your Lightweight, Packa
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Marmot Precip Rain Jacket is a standout choice for anyone seeking reliable protection from the elements without sacrificing portability. Having put this jacket through its paces in heavy rain, I can confidently say it delivers exceptional performance. Its waterproofing is top-notch, keeping you bone-dry even during prolonged downpours, thanks to Marmot’s proprietary NanoPro™ technology, which balances breathability with robust water resistance. Weighing in at just under a pound, the Precip is impressively lightweight, making it an ideal companion for travel, hiking, or daily commutes. One of its best features is its packability—it folds neatly into its own pocket, transforming into a compact bundle that easily fits into a backpack or carry-on. This makes it a go-to for unpredictable weather, especially for those who value convenience without compromising quality. The fit is comfortable and true to size, with adjustable cuffs, a drawcord hem, and a hood that provides solid coverage without obstructing peripheral vision. The jacket’s breathability is decent for a waterproof shell, though it can feel slightly warm during high-intensity activities in milder conditions. Pit zips offer welcome ventilation when needed. Durability is another strong point. Despite its lightweight construction, the Precip holds up well against rough use, whether you’re brushing against branches on a trail or navigating crowded urban environments. The material feels sturdy yet soft, avoiding the plasticky texture of some budget rain jackets. Overall, the Marmot Precip Rain Jacket is a fantastic choice for anyone seeking a reliable, lightweight, and packable rain jacket that performs exceptionally well in heavy rain. Its blend of functionality, durability, and portability makes it a versatile option for adventurers and casual users alike. Highly recommended for those who want to stay dry without the bulk.

Great all around jacket
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I took this jacket into the Rocky Mountains for 10 days backpacking during monsoon season (Philmont). The jacket was rained and hailed on 7 of the 10 days. Each down pour was extensive for 1-3 hours. Most of the crew (12 members) had a variety of other brands. We all found that my jacket was the preferred. Some jackets were not waterproof as advertised. The armpit vents and rip cords are all in the right place, allowing for a comfortable and breathable backpacking trek in the rain.

Good rain protection for the price
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a lightweight rain jacket that could pack down into a small space in a backpack but offer decent protection from rain. Previous products I'd bought had failed to stay dry sooner than anticipated. This jacket is a huge improvement in this category and offers decent rain protection for the price.

Does the PreCip Eco Rain jacket have front velcro closures in addition to the front zipper so in light rain, or a quick run out to the mailbox, I can velcro tack it closed without having to use the zipper?

I am 6'3" and 235lbs with a 36" sleeve and 39" waist. I wear XL in most jackets, but your sizing seems to say XXL. What would you recommend?
