Why We Like The Marmot PreCip Eco Pro Jacket

Whether we hike the rolling hills of Appalachia or the towering granite peaks of the Sierra Nevada, we've all been promised blue skies by a weather app just to find ourselves thoroughly drenched while seeking any bit of shelter we can find. The Marmot Precip Eco Pro ensures that we'll never face that problem again, as long as we remember to toss it in our pack just in case. Luckily, the jacket is feather-light and easily packable, without giving up any performance, so we can withstand sudden downpours from passing storms. The zippered underarm vents and breathable material help keep us cool as we work up a sweat, and the mechanical stretch of the NanoPro material moves with us as we climb steep switchbacks and vault over fast-moving creeks. The incredible waterproofing keeps us dry and comfortable, and the fully taped seams ensure no drips sneak through to our baselayers

Serious Upgrade

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Eco Pro is a much more substantive coat than the basic PreCip. The pluses are durability and better hood system. The downside (for me) is the loss of being truly packable / compressible. My old PreCip lasted more than ten years without re-finishing; I expect this to do the same (or longer).

Marmot Eco Pro

The jacket is a significant step up from the PreCip jacket that I've used for decades. Heavier (and perhaps more durable) and more water resistant. It does not function well as a windbreaker or light packable, which the basic PreCip model excels at.

What an upgrade!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This rain jacket has been fantastic. I upgraded from a very old, budget minded rain jacket that had worn out and I decided it was time for something nicer. This breathes so well I was able to wear the black colored jacket in the sun, on a day that was in the upper seventies all day. Pit zips function perfectly. And the higher position of the pockets will be much appreciated when backpacking and even come in handy when driving to and from the trailhead. Can't recommend it enough. I wore this for an hour in a down pour with the hood up and only had some rain get in at the pit zips which I forgot were open.

Staying Dry and Warm!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Take this jacket with us everywhere: annual overseas travel, concerts, sports events, etc. and not only does this work like a charm but we're often asked where we sourced it.

QUESTIONABLE DURABILITY.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Over time, the lining begins to fall apart and the piece becomes useless, while the outside remains intact.

Tropical Storm Ophelia couldn't soak this jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I took the Marmot PreCip Eco Pro Jacket with me on my trip to New York City at the height of the rain effects of Tropical Storm Ophelia. Whenever outside, I basically lived in this jacket for four days. It never leaked and the pit zips allowed ventilation so I never felt clammy. The hood was protective but gave great visibility, allowing me to quickly compose photos of our Manhattan adventures.

A rain jacket for all climates

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Checkout the Men's PreCip Rain Jacket. I have warn it to kids soccer games in the New Mexican high dessert. Weather here can every five minutes from snow, to wind, to tortuous sun. This jacket keeps you dry in any type of rain. It breathes so that you stay comfortable in any quick of weather. You can open vents to let out heat. When it becomes too warm, it is easy to remove and store in your backpack. It performs just as well in the Himalayas, where you can use with layers underneath to stay warm. The material so hi-tech that it gives you protection in all challenging climate changes.

Keeps Me Comfy and Dry!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love this jacket! I originally bought it for a golf trip and saved the day during a downpour keeping me perfectly dry. It's nice and light perfect to throw in your bag.
