Why We Like The Moab 3 Mid Hiking Boot
We count on the Moab 3 Mid Hiking Boot to balance the confident stability of a mid-height hiker with lightweight, breathable comfort to keep us fast and upright. The nylon shanks and protective rubber toe cap improve ankle stability and protect us from rock strikes. The hybrid leather and mesh upper provides lightweight breathability, while a grippy Vibram TC5+ outsole gives us the confident traction we need over muddy trails and wet slickrock.

Sole failure
Sole came off after only about twenty miles of use. I have had around 15 pairs of these over the years that I was happy with. won't buy them again because of the lack of company concern with the quality of the pair that failed

Dangerous on wet surfaces
Dangerous on wet surfaces, it’s like you’re on skates. Don’t you dare climb a wet rock and are supposed to be hiking boots! Terrible expensive crap. Merrill never again.

Disappointed
I had a previous pair of Moab boots that I loved and put over 1,000 miles on. This new pair has not been as dependable. After only about 300 miles, the interior lining is torn and they seem to have lost waterproofing. Because they are more than a year old, they are out of warranty even though they are relatively new. This is disappointing. I’ll get a lot more use out of them, but they aren’t holding up nearly as well as I expected based on previous experience.

Moab as a work shoe.
I use the Moab as my work shoe on my rural property which is fairly rough and uneven. The high ankle support is a great feature.

Mt St Helens
I climbed up Mt St Helens on July 15th. These shoes offered support as a tough enough sole that protected the sole of my feet. Soes worked great!!!

Good shoes
I have the same shoe in a low cut version and the mid version seems to be the same fit which works well for my feet. They were comfortable right out of the box and I wore them a week later for a four day backpack with no fit issues. My only issues are with the cloth inner surface small debris gets stuck in the cloth and can rub against your feet (this is consistent with most lighter weight hiking shoes). I do a lot of off trail hiking. I also would prefer metal eyelets for laces as they are easier to get laces tightened but these are pretty minor issues. The shoes are comfortable and hold up well.
