Why We Like The Moab 3 Mid Hiking Boot

The Moab 3 Mid Hiking Boot is our ticket to a good day on the trail. Leather and mesh in the upper mix strength with ventilation to ensure a lasting lifetime and fresher feet throughout the day. The mid-height is supported with a nylon arch shank to keep us from rolling an ankle if we slip on loose scree. Inside, it has extra cushioning where our feet are impacted most while outside a Vibram rubber sole provides unrelenting traction.

Here's what customers have to say

The hiking shoes are praised for their comfort, support, and durability. Customers report the shoes felt broken-in right away and provided excellent arch and ankle support, even on long hikes. The shoes are described as lightweight yet sturdy, with good traction and a roomy toe box. Some customers noted the arch support was a bit high, and the shoes ran small, so sizing up may be recommended. Overall, the hiking shoes are widely regarded as a high-quality, comfortable, and reliable option.

Great shoes, but...

This is the fourth pair of Moab 3 Mids that I've bought. I normally wear an 8, but I first went with an 8.5. Too small, I sent them back, ordered a 9. Too small, sent them back. Ordered a 9.5, better. I wore them for a short while and they hurt my big toes (I unfortunately inherited my grandmother's ultra-sensitive big toes), and the 9.5s pushed on them. Ordered a 10, better still, but they still hurt my toes. If you don't have Nana's toes, these shoes are great!!! They're cushiony and do well as my work shoes, standing on concrete for 5 hours a night. If only the toe box were higher, like Birkenstocks.

Moab 3 Mid

We went to OR last month, where we did some light hiking. These boots were great; they were true to size and so very comfortable. I would definitely recommend them.

MOAB 3 MID TRAIL BOOT

I took my Moab 3s out for a 9-mile training walk and they were perfect! I will be using them to hike in Slovenia so I had to find the right pair to get me through that. I passed a guy who said I love your boots - I have a pair just like them! I think that says a lot!

Awesome shoes for rucking!

I love these shoes! I got size 8 which is half a size larger than I usually get. They began to feel slightly loose as I have broken them in, but they still feel great since I can tighten the laces. My toes had bruises from previous shoes and feel great in these shoes.

Super comfortable and great support

Love this shoe! Wore it four days hiking in Zion. Didn’t even need to break them in, just wore them straight out of the box for nine hours the first day. No blisters, no sore feet, great support, and my feet weren’t aching by the end of the day like some other shoes I have used in the past. I like the way you don’t feel the rocks or uneven surfaces beneath your feet; so comfortable. I highly recommend this shoe!!

Runs 1/2 size larger

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought these for my daughter -- runs a half size larger than her other Merrell boots so had to exchange. But she loves them: comfortable and waterproof.

Landscaper boots!

These boots are the best for work. Comfortable, light weight and tough. I wear them while landscaping everyday, pushing down on a shovel, scooping rock, planting shrubs, getting about 20,000 steps a day and never tired feet. I highly recommend these. At that rate they last about 6 months until the soles wear out. Well worth the money. I've been buying this boot for about 7 years now.

"Go Getter"

This is a no nonsense boot. Gore-Tex is a gimmick to a certain extent because if you get your boots soaked they'll take days to dry out anyway, and the more layers of "water proofing" you have, the longer it's gonna take to dry out. Feet need to breath to optimize comfort and hygiene. So for arid to moist conditions, unless your in heavy rain/snow, non-waterproofing is fine. And a nice wool sock will help immensely. They breath very well and feel light for their size. Ventilation aids in keeping my feet cool and they do dry off much quicker when they do get wet. I wish the ankle was higher for more support, but I haven't had issues with twisting my ankle yet. I haven't tried them in alpine or "Yosemite" conditions. There is no perfect boot and hiking/backpacker afficionados often have multiple pairs for different conditions. However, it's "my go getter" and I'm content. Everyone's different so give a try.

Comfortable hiking boots!!!

Amazing comfortable hiking shoes that fit like a glove day one. I hiked Yellowstone and put on 85000 steps on them in first 5 days. I did order half size bigger to accommodate the thicker socks. I love that they have lots on ankle cushioning, making the walk and hike on trails smooth. Overall, I give it a 5+ Thank you Merrell!
