Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX Hiking Shoe combines trail agility with waterproof hiking performance
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve worn the Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX for everything from muddy spring hikes to everyday errands—they’re super light, give great grip, and the waterproofing has held up through unexpected downpours. I love how they feel like a hybrid between a trail runner and a low hiking shoe."
The Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX Hiking Shoe is our go-to when we need lightweight agility without sacrificing trail-ready protection. Designed by Merrell with decades of hiking experience in its DNA, this shoe bridges the gap between classic support and modern speed. It's built for moderate trails, unexpected weather, and adventures that demand more from every step.
From its GORE-TEX waterproof membrane to the Vibram TC5+ outsole and durable ripstop upper, every feature works to keep us moving confidently. The lightweight FlexPlate offers torsional rigidity and responsive movement, while FloatPro™ foam underfoot cushions each stride without bogging us down. Finished with eco-conscious materials and a sleek, versatile silhouette, this shoe adapts from rugged trails to city streets without missing a beat.

I bought plain Moab speed two.
I did not buy Gor Tex shoes. I love the plain ones.

I’ll never buy anything else to work in.
I own 6 pairs of work boots/shoes & these are by far my favorite. I’ve found my new go to. I’ll seriously never spend my $ on anything else to work in. These are lighter than my running shoes but rugged enough to make it thru every day I spend in an attic or crawl space. More comfortable than my house shoes. I’ll be on job sites and think my shoes have come untied just bc of how light & comfy they are.

Sandbridge Beach and beyond
Got my new Merrells Gore-Tex went to the Sandbridge Beach Virginia where they kept me waterproof. The airshow at NAS Virginia Beach and the Neptune Festival also VB. Comfortable and stylish.

Disappointed after many good reviews from others
They ran large for me. Downsized and still too big. The heel slid on both feet. Also the tongue where a seem met was rather unsmooth and dug into the top of my foot. My first experience with Merrell shoes turned into a bad experience. Cant say I will try again. Overall, I cant recommend them.

Walk it off
Very comfortable and light. A little warm on hotter days but overall one of my favorite shoes to wear and I walk about 8 miles five days a week in them.

Amazing Shoes! Comfy, breathable, supportive!
These shoes are amazing!! Insanely comfy and the waterproofing does not make my feet hot and sweaty, even with wool hiking socks in the 100 degree Arkansas heat. I truly love these shoes. I have a pair of camp slippers that I bring on my backpacking trips, and I find myself forgetting to change into them because my hiking shoes are already so comfy 😂! Amazing product Merrell

I cannot is any male or female size find comfort in the toe box of this shoe. I had to go with a different brand.

Golf Shoe Replacements
Read a couple of articles about golfers using Speed 2s and gave them a shot. Tried multiple brands of golf shoes, but would consistently have sore achilles after walking 18. No more. These have been incredible. Legs feel fresh throughout the round and I've experienced better ball striking. Traction is fantastic, even in wet conditions. I have been wearing Moabs as dailies for the past 15+ years, so I have total confidence that these will last.

Flexible secure comfort
Been hiking for years with the Moab 3s(light to moderate) -- there's so much love there. Found these Speed 2s and decided to try for easy casual walking trails, with a little more flex. Genius shoe. Auditioned them at Sitka Sedge, gorgeous estuary with no difficulty and lots of casual walking comfort among the birders. Easy trail and sand doesn't really need more than a sneaker, but these guys are super sure footed and almost paddle through the sand trail sections. Can't wait to really test them, but on their first go over a few miles of light terrain they're super "sneaker-like comfy", yet secure. They definitely want to run.

Good for many things but not uneven terrain
everything about these are great! The stability on uneven terrain is terrible. the cushioning is dangerously to high/excessive. on a slope your feet will roll right off of the sole. gortex is GREAT! Laces will NEVER come untied, Awesome! they are sporty and very comfortable. I'd love to say they are worth the high price but since they arent capable of doing what I need, I cant
