Why We Like The Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Hooded Jacket

Whether we're waking up before the sun for an early morning ski tour or bundling up while on belay at our local crag, the Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer Hooded Jacket keeps us warm without the weight. This ultralight puffy offers mid-winter warmth with plush 800-fill down trapping heat beneath our shell while we ski, or can be worn by itself for approach hikes and route-finding missions. The highly packable design shrinks down into its own hand pocket, so we can keep it in our bag until we need it, and with the best-in-class weight of 8.8 ounces, we'll barely even notice it's there.

Here's what customers have to say

The jacket is praised for its excellent warmth-to-weight ratio, packability, and versatility as a mid-layer or standalone jacket. Reviewers describe it as comfortable, well-fitting, and durable, able to withstand outdoor use. However, some have noted issues with the quality of the zipper, which they found to be small and flimsy. Overall, the jacket is considered an excellent ultralight option, though a few customers felt the price was high given the zipper quality.

Poor Fitment

This jacket is incredibly tight in the armpits, and the sleeve opening doesn't seem to scale with larger sizes. I'm 6'1 & 210lbs, i go to the gym but im not bulky - i normally look for a relaxed fit for tops so i generally wear an XL. I ordered this jacket in XL and was shocked by the tightness in the armpits, a result of under-sized sleeve openings at the torso. I exchanged for XXL and the problem was the exact same, except the rest of the garment was now oversized. the materials are premium but obviously not suitably designed/tested for varrying body shapes, especially odd because this is a mid-layer and should accommodate other layers underneath. MHW please please please add ACTUAL PRODUCT MEASUREMENTS to the details of your listing, the current sizing guidelines might be adequate for some but i want to know the ACTUAL chest measurement, sleeve openings, upper arm sleeve circumference, etc. when shopping because i followed the sizing on the site and it failed... twice.

Very durable jacket

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
Large

I'm on safari in the bush of South Africa. My first day my right sleeve got caught on some large thorns, gently pulled it off, no tears or punctures. The next day riding in a jeep, was hit by a branch full of thorns and thought my jacket was ruined. You can barley see the tiny abrasions. This jacket is the truth and will definitely buy again and highly recommend it

Great gear, good price and awesome company!

Love it!!! I feel like its gonna be a key piece of gear for my next stone sheep hunt! Compresses down to the size of a grapefruit and as soon as you put it on it feels like a space blanket! Also thank you to Mountain Hardware for offering a Military discount and supporting our CF1 members, it means a lot.

Tiny zipper

Nice jacket but the zipper is a deal breaker. It is so small and so cheap that I had to return the jacket.

A puffy that keeps you warm while moving.

Bought this to fit in my running pack for the R2R2R in the Grand Canyon. My other down were not as packable. The hoodie keeps me warm on the move with out all the bulk that comes with down jackets designed for real cold environments. I can see using this jacket in the backcountry while skiing in the future.

Best Purchase

Best piece I have bought all year. Kept me nice and toasty and protected from 20mph winds while camping on Catalina over the weekend. Great fill and feel.
