Disappointing New Generation
I've been a huge fan of the Trail Sender series for the past few years, and it is a bit disappointing to see MHW move away from what I've considered one of the best shorts out there. Increasing the inseam, using thinner polyester materials, and adjusting pockets to be less seamless have moved an iconic shorts more towards the rest of the lineup. While these shorts fit well and still are attractive, they no longer feel like the fashion-forward, take-anywhere shorts. What I once could take mountain biking, to the beach, to a nice outdoor dinner is no longer. These pants have become a roleplayer when they once were stars.

So light and breathable, it's almost like wearing nothing
These have become my go-to shorts since I got a pair late in the winter. They're so light-weight, so breathable and fit well under a harness. Feeling like I need to order about 6 more pair in case they all get bought up!

If you're going to completely change something...
Then call it by a different name. The 2024 version of the "Trail Sender short" is 180 degrees from the previous offering, which was a well built, excellent fitting pair of shorts that could go a day on the trails to a nice restaurant date night without effort. The 2024 version is...nothing like that. Different cut, different silhouette, different fit = different short.
