Great pack, extremely comfortable. Minor quirks.

I've had this pack for 11 months now and really like it, but many of the features have room for improvement. I've primarily used it for SAR and a variety of climbing outtings in the southwest, from near-mountaineering to bouldering. Weights from almost empty to 50lbs+. It is very well made, easy to adjust, and carries weight very comfortably particularly for such a small pack, and I am a tall person. I really like the Y incision type opening. Makes it easy to pack efficiently and use a smaller pack that is easier to scramble or squeeze through brush with. I wasn't sold on the runners pockets initially, but have found them to be very handy after using the pack. The two big things I would change about it are the external/water bottle pockets and where the compression system for the sides attach. The two are somewhat related. The pockets are sized to hold something the diameter of a nalgene, but not much else, and the elastic makes it very hard to put a larger soft waterbottle in. Bottles still pop out, and generally need to be clipped to the compression straps. This leads to having to undo the side compression straps every time you want to open the pack up all the way. Having the clips for the compression system on the other side of the zipper, like the coulee, would make the process much quicker. It's not a huge deal when backpacking or climbing where you stop and open it once, but would be very nice when having to reaccess the pack on SAR missions. I've also not found the drawstring or odd clip near the drawstring to be useful. A little more breathability on the back would be nice, too. Overall, I really, really like this pack, but it would be nice to see a couple minor changes.

Way to go !

I purchased this backpack approximately 3 months ago but wanted to test it out in multiple conditions before giving it a review. Heat, snow, alpine this pack preformed super well ! Great design with super high quality durable construction. What really stands out is the way that it fits. With its stretch chest panels and dual chest straps it fits like a glove making it a high preforming pack as well !!!

New SAR Bag

Nice profile against the back for getting through brush, and 35L is just about what I need to keep gear focused. I currently have 35Lbs of the gear I carry (larger med kit, water and basic gear) and it's pretty comfortable; lots of ways to adapt fit. The main body material is very light and strong but some of the fabric choices, such as the hip belt pockets and side bottle pockets have an elasticity that doesn't feel quite as solid but is usefully stretchy.

Wonderful pack!!

What a great pack! If you're serious about taking a trail this is the pack for you. Heavy enough to carry anything you need, light enough to be considered an extended day pack. Mystery Ranch really hit a home run with this line.

Most comfortable

I bought this pack in preparing for the Du Mont Blanc hike but ultimately decided this pack was a bit larger than I needed. But I did test it out a bit with the kit I prepared to day hike with. This pack has to be the most comfortable pack I’ve ever tried on. The yoke material and padding is superior to the normal setup by mystery ranch. And not that the regular one is uncomfortable at all. The dual chest harness design hugs you like a vest and takes the load off your shoulders for even more comfort. It is a bit different or odd to have a dual chest strap but extremely comfortable. This pack is also slim in design that causes the gear you pack to become tighter to your body, nearly flat compared to a round obtrusive bulge on your back. This provides some ease of maneuver if you might get in amongst some trees and thick brush I imagine. Over all, I would have kept it, but the 35L seemed a bit much for a day hike type pack I was looking for.

Exactly What I Need in a Day Pack

I bought this pack to replace my older one that I've had for 15 years. I was looking for a pack that I could take to last me a day (24-hour pack). The Bridger 35 looked promising, and I wasn't disappointed! This pack offers the essentials for anyone looking to go outdoors for the day. So far, I have taken it out three times for hikes ranging about 5 to 10 miles with around 20-25 pounds of gear, and what I've found is that the pack, when seated right (instructions on how to fit are on the tag, also there are YouTube videos available) this pack takes the weight from your back, allowing you to have a comfortable hike without having to adjust. I have another Mystery Ranch pack (Coulee 50), which I take for a 2-3 (48-72 hour) excursion, and found it to be a fantastic pack, which led me to come back to them for another, where I discovered the Bridger 35, and I couldn't be happier with the results!

Fabulous Midsize Pack

I purchased this pack to replace a Mystery Ranch 25 liter as I needed higher capacity for an extended, four season outing (read: more room for a puffy, Jetboil, etc). It is now my favorite two/three day pack and will replace my current go bag for the vehicle. It is well thought out, well designed and has the same quality for which MR is known.

Amazing pack

I finally got this out yesterday for a longer hike, and wow, was I impressed. I had to adjust the torso pad a little, and once I had that dialed in, I hardly knew it was on my back. And that was with about 23 pounds of gear. They really hit it out of the park with this design. The runner's harness chest setup helps distribute weight so well, I almost didn't need the hip belt. The pack has just the right amount of organization (I'd recommend getting a zoid for the hangers above the bladder sleeve) and I love the way it can function both as a top-loader and as a panel loader, with the side zips allowing it to fillet out and make access very easy. I do wish there were a few more pockets on the chest harness, like a zippered pocket on one or both sides for flatter devices like a phone, but just having the two is so convenient. Love this pack!

Super Winter daypack/overnighter!

I bought this pack this past summer, and didn't bring out until shoulder season and now the winter. I've had the opportunity to load this up with 25ish pounds to this point and it carries extremely well. Have done a 12 and 7 mile winter day hike most recently, and it carries all my essentials + layers for the winter extremely well. Had a 2L bladder inside + 2 liters on the outside and I didn't feel like the pack was uncomfortable in the slightest. As well, I brought it out for a winter overnight and was able to carry all my gear (pad, two quilts, tent externally) without a single issue along with 2L of water, essentials, and extra layers. It was snug, but the pack had no troubles!
