Big-mile solo shelter with Hornet OSMO Tent: 1-Person 3-Season
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"Under two pounds with legit living space. OSMO stays taut in wet weather, so I’m not re-tensioning at 2 a.m."
We cover ground, then crash comfortably in the Hornet OSMO 1P. Volume-efficient poles and near-vertical walls add headroom without weight creep, while OSMO fabric reduces stretch when wet for a calmer, tighter pitch.Smart storage and a protective vestibule keep essentials handy and the sleeping area clean on long solo pushes.

My best solo shelter yet
Referencing the review title, in the past I’ve used a single wall 1-person tent, bivvy sacks, tarp-tents, and other brands of lightweight double-wall tents…. and so far this one is my favorite. Lightweight at under two pounds, (but you need stakes - 6 of them - to set it up, so bump that number up a bit depending on the weight of your stakes.) Lots of room compared to many other options - both in the tent and in the vestibule. Packs down pretty small. Good ventilation. I find this tent, compared to others I’ve used, the best all-around option. Not the lightest or most compact when packed, but offers the features, like double-wall and very roomy that make up for it. Five stars from me!

Great upgrade!
Been using a 5 lb tent for years. I should have upgraded to this years ago. I have 2 gripes. 1. It's not really a 2P tent (but none really are) This is perfect for 1 person and a little gear. 2. The material is very light. You have to take care not to zip up the material in the zippers. Thanks NEMO

Outstanding Tent
Ive had this tent for 2 years and used it on the AT section hike Vermont thru NYS, UP Michigan, OHT and a few others. Performed flawlessly in all conditions, including heavy rain and light snow. Not freestanding, but that has made little difference in set up and performance.

Ultralight and Great Features
I just switched from the Dragonfly to the Hornet, both 1P with OSMO fabric. I feel the Hornet has more loft storage which you wouldn’t expect but I like. The ceiling loops are a plus which I feel like the Dragonfly didn’t have either, another preferred feature. I like the smaller pole sections and packed size. I usually go for full freestanding tents but this semi freestanding tent doesn’t bother me. I also have the Hornet footprint and love how it integrates to the tent body.

Excellent!
This is my third Nemo tent, and my favorite. Bought the 2p version and is perfect for one person with roominess to it. You could probably get two skinny people in it just fine, but it would be tight. Love the compact size when it’s packed.

Our new gold standard.
We own several tents from different manufacturers that we use for different occasions. Everything from 4 person car camping tents to Ultralight and everything in between. We had been in the market for a new 2 person tent and we looked at several different manufacturers and Nemo won us over with the Hornet Osmo for our weapon of choice for backpacking. My wife and I are fun sized so this 2P tent is perfect for us. I think a 3P might be a better choice for taller folks. The balance of weight and strength hit all the sweet spots for us. The sustainability and innovation put the Hornet Osmo at the top of our list!

My new go-to tent
I took this tent on its maiden voyage- a 3 day 100 mile backpacking route through Canyonlands in Utah. Let’s just say I’m impressed. The material is durable yet extremely light weight, the rain fly was water proof but VERY easy to dry out in the morning while packing up, and the tent was rock solid with minimal staking even with some high winds. I love the little details Nemo adds like the yellow light pocket, it makes reading at night super cozy. The semi free standing design is super easy to set up, really only need 1-3 stakes for a solid build. Plenty of room for bags and shoes outside. I have the 1 person tent but it feels much roomier than other 1 person tents I have used such as the tarp tent notch. This is a winner and will become my new go to tent for the time being, until Nemo cooks something else up. Dying to try their new backpack line up, whatever wizards they have in R&D need to keep it up!!

Great bikepacking tent
I have had my Hornet tent for a couple years now and use it almost every month. I primarily use in on bikepacking trips but have also used it on canoe trips and winter ski trips. It is very light and packs easily on my bike. I also like that the poles are short and I can strap them to the top tube of my bike. Very quick to set up and take down too.

This tent should be a staple in anyone's gear
I have the Nemo Hornet 1P and 2P tents and they both are great tents. They are well designed and have performed flawlessly over many nights on trail. They are easy to set up. The rainfly provides great protection from rains even in high winds. The only thing I wish this tent had is a vent on the fly to promote a bit more air movement and to help reduce condensation build up. Being that 80% of my hike are in the south-east USA this would be a great addition.
