Customer Images

Here's what customers have to say

The shoes are generally well-received, with many praising their comfort, cushioning, and grip on various terrains. They are described as great for trail running, hiking, and everyday use, with a solid and stable feel. However, some noted the toe box can feel narrow, and the high stack height may not be ideal for uneven terrain. Overall, the shoes seem to be a good all-around option for those seeking a comfortable and capable trail shoe.

Best X Trail trainer's.

Bought a pair going back i can't remember but years ago probably 7 or 8 ? . Slightly different design with the heal foot pull on the the overlay tread. I truly wouldn't buy anything else for quality,,stability & comfort. My old pair are still in good condition after a lot of miles but obviously has lost a bit of impact cushioning due to mileage & age. Plus personality to me they look like nothing else. Please NB. Don't even think about stopping making this design. It's the best. Going to do the South downs 100 next week in my NB trainers. Taking my old pair plus my new pair in my rucksack to swap halfway in to break the new ones in.

Great trail shoes

I love these shoes for trail running. They are light yet supportive and dry quickly making them easy to clean. My complaints are that they will inevitably be redesigned and with the exception of the black color-way the rest are not very attractive.

Worse than Trail More v3

I was a big fan of the Fresh Foam More Trail v3 (4E) and bought the Hierro v9 as the closest replacement. Unfortunately, the v9 feels much less stable. The platform is narrower with less flare, which lets my foot roll inward (pronation). It resists supination, but not pronation, and the shoe almost “pulls” me inward. On long walks this led to foot pain and made me miss the More Trail v3. Fit was also an issue. In More Trail v3 a 10 4E fit perfectly; in Hierro v9 the 10 4E felt shorter and narrower. I had to move to a 10.5 4E for toe room, but it was still uncomfortable on longer walks. This might work better strictly for running, but as a trail shoe for backpacking and lots of walking, it didn’t work for me. I’d love to see a return of the wide, flared base (or a stability-oriented Hierro/Wide option) for better pronation control.
