Here's what customers have to say

The product offers excellent cushioning, grip, stability, and overall comfort for a wide range of outdoor activities. It performs well on varied terrain, including mud, sand, and concrete. However, some users experienced instability on uneven ground, a higher sole profile reducing ground feel, and an uncomfortable shifting tongue. Sizing may also be an issue, with the shoes potentially running small or narrow for some individuals.

Uncomfortable

I have many pairs of NB shoes, including earlier models of these. Was surprised that these aren't comfortable like all my other shoes. In particular, it feels like there's a pressure spot (behind second toe) and like my forefoot is being strangled. Doesn't matter how much I tighten or loosen them. I thought maybe I hadn't ordered (or received) wide shoes accidentally, but nope. I've worn them on a few 10 km runs hoping they'd get more comfortable but they don't. I've gone back to wearing my old pair.

Comfortable right out of the box

These shoes felt great and light right out of the box, with no toe-rubbing after 3 days of brisk 5-mile walks. Stylish, and I appreciate the half-inch height boost. The Vibram soles sealed the deal, as I typically wear out non-reinforced soles in a matter of months. The NB store is only a five-minute walk from my door.

Wobbly; rolled ankles aplenty

Purchased these for hiking- I own several pairs of 880s so assumed they’d be similar. The soles are so squishy/ cushy it makes it hard to balance doing simple tasks like walking down a flight of stairs (I’m in my 20s and have literally never struggled with that task). Worn for less than 30 minutes and rolled my ankle several times. I normally buy shoes that are more geared towards stability so it’s definitely my bad; but if you tend to roll your ankles or have hypermobility these are not for you!

Thick soles and toe protection, but affects gait

Pretty thick soles and overall sturdy shoe, except the upper material is just mesh-type stuff that soaks in wet conditions and is easily caught onto sharp edges. The toe part is reinforced, which is nice for trail environments. I find the "step" of these shoes very disruptive to my natural gait. It forces one to bounce up and down instead of making progressive heel-toe steps. I find the shoes insufferable to wear on concrete, but they're wonderful on rocky terrain and forest floors. Definitely a specific activity is meant for these shoes. They also run smaller than the other shoes sold by NB.

Excellent shoe

The sole is amazing. I was a little worried about roominess in the toebox, but that's great as well. Love the shoe!

Great All Rounder

Love these sneakers! They go easily from bushwalks, giving me noticeable grip on trails - to work where they make my step super bouncy, great for someone who works on their feet. They're a great purchase

Prefer older model

I wasn’t too impressed with the change in the Hiero. There is almost too much cushion now, and too much rocker. They are more like Hoka now, with very little support in the back of the sole. I absolutely loved the original Hiero, and have several pair. They were the most comfortable shoes for trail running, running & walking my dog, walking, and even weightlifting. The new ones are really only good for running and walking, I’d be afraid to run my dog with these.
