Why We Like The Ooni Koda 2 Max Oven

The Ooni Koda 2 Max Oven is for those of us who struggle to choose between a traditional Neapolitan or pepperoni pizza—or to splurge on a Calabrese or prosciutto, pear, and gorgonzola pie. Ooni's biggest pizza oven lets us cook two 12-inch pizzas, three 10-inch pizzas, or one 20-inch pizza at once with its 24-inch cooking surface and two, independently controlled gas burners that provide even cooking. The Koda runs on propane cylinders, is ready to cook in 30 minutes, and can fire up a pizza in as little as 60 seconds. As much as we love grills and campfires, it's the Ooni Koda that's made us culinary legends at our homes and local campgrounds.

Customer Images

Here's what customers have to say

The pizza oven has received mostly positive reviews, with customers praising its large cooking surface, even heat distribution, and ability to cook pizzas quickly. Some highlight its versatility for cooking other foods. However, a few customers have experienced issues with lighting, temperature consistency, and heat retention. Overall, the oven is considered a powerful and capable option, though some users note a learning curve to get the best results. The size and weight make it less portable than some other models, but it is still considered a great value.

Built like tank

This thing is built like a tank. I moved houses and when my husband was carrying it down the stairs, he dropped it, down an entire flight of stairs. A small ding on the nose of the oven after falling down 15 steps of concrete and it still fires up and cooks like a boss. I couldn't be more pleased with this oven.

Great pizza over for family of 4!

We love the new Ooni Koda 2 Max over. We've been making pizzas almost every weekend. Only complaint is that the igniter doesn't work very well, it takes 15-30 seconds most of the time to get both flames going.

Poor temperature control.

The burners are difficult to light both at the same time and keep them lit. Once I do the highest temperature I have reached is about 750 degrees F. The temperature also fluctuates as much as 50 degrees if the wind blows. I live by the beach which is windy on a regular basis. It is also difficult to see what is going on in the back regarding cheese unless I use a flash light.

Expensive and OK

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Maybe it's a learning curve but we have yet to find the value for the price in this item. Somewhat difficult to use seems to cook unevenly even with individual adjustments. Stone never seems to get hot enough to create the nice crisp crust. Cleaning is difficult

Solid product and close to perfect

Would be 5 stars but the left burner struggles to stay lit early on. You really have to keep an eye on it for the first 5 min. Or so to make sure it stays lit. Once it does it is a near perfect pizza oven. It’s large, cooks well and maintains temp. The thermometer works well for ambient temp but a temp gun is essential to make sure the stone is to proper temp. I highly recommend this product and would have given it 5 stars if they can figure out the burner issues.

Good pizza, middling usability

Good cooking overall but the igniter on one side didn't light with the piezo, I had to light it with a match. Also had about a 50C difference between the two sides.
