Here's what customers have to say

These rain pants receive mixed reviews. Some customers praise the waterproofing, breathability, and lightweight design, while others criticize the fit as too baggy and loose, especially around the legs and waist. Many find the pants waterproof and durable, keeping them dry in heavy rain and wind. However, several note issues with the waistband and lack of adjustability, causing the pants to not stay up well. Some also wish for more features like pockets or a full-length zipper. Overall, the pants are decent but could benefit from improvements to the fit and design to enhance functionality and comfort for a wider range of users.

no way to adjust around the ankles

Unless you are tall do not buy these rain pants. Huge design flaw. There is no way to adjust them around the ankles so you end up walking on the bottoms and destroying them. What were they thinking? I ended up installing some snaps myself at the bottom so they would be useable, but now they flounce out at the bottom and look like parachute pants. Stupid.

Love the fit and zips

I haven't used skiing yet but I am confident they will be great. Super soft and a little stretchy. Best part is the full length zips that will allow me to drop the backside for a pee!

Weird fit!!!

I will start by saying that I knew these pants would fit weird based off all of the reviews. It really is such a shame, these rain pants have so much potential! I wear a size 16 and both XL/XXL in OR pants. I bought these in a 1x. The butt is tighter than I would like, the thighs are fine, and below the thighs are HUGE. It's very confusing- I don't think the large leg fit is to accommodate boots because they taper in slightly towards the bottom- it's around the knee that they're unnecessarily huge. Maybe they're designed for folks who wear knee pads or knee braces? It just looks and feels sloppy to me. My other big complaint is the waistband. The waist hits right around the belly button and is generous in size compared to the tight butt and hips but the shock cord (which probably contributes to making these pants more ultralight) is ineffective. I wish these had a more substantial elastic waistband or draw cord. I am an outdoor educator so I sit on the ground a lot while teaching and every time I sit down I have to hold them up so my butt doesn't show. As always with the Aspire goretex line, the quality, breathability and waterproofing are top notch without question!! If OR fixes these weird fit issues then these will be the best rain pants ever!

Great Rain Pants

I was looking for some heavier duty rain pants that would not only keep me dry but also block the wind. These have been an excellent addition to my gear. I like that they aren't super thick and they provide enough room for layering. I wore these with wool leggings in pouring rain and gusty winds recently and they kept me cozy and dry. I also like the bottom zippers and can see how these will come in handy while wearing bigger boots. My only complaint is that I wish they came in different lengths. I'm 5'2 and 130lbs, the small fit great but were a bit long, though not long enough that I will trip on them. I tried and XS on in a store and the length was great but they were too tight around my hips.

Functional and Reasonably Priced

These pants will keep you dry (from the elements). I wore them in cool weather while rafting on the Salmon River in Idaho and they kept me dry. They run large enough to easily wear over other clothing. A bit long but I can live with that.

Stuck in the wet mountains with non-functioning rain pants

This is the 2nd time I've bought these rain pants. I bought them in 2016, in a medium and they fit well and worked. I recently bought a new pair and am not happy at all. Pros: - fabric in theory is good quality Gortex - venting on sides is a nice feature - lightweight emergency layer CONS: - there are no belt loops or other ways to reinforce the fit on the waist - the fit is off, the lower leg and ankle area are huge - lack of front pockets - there is a tiny plastic widget that adjusts an elastic cord to cinch around your hips, its doesn't stay closed after cinching and therefore the pants don't stay put around your hips and ride down, leaving you uncomfortable, exposed, and cursing as you try to pull these pants up constantly doing (insert your fun activity here). After 3 days of testing these, I stopped packing them.

Not waterproof at all

I've been using these pants where I work as a field biologist and have not been impressed. Everytime I wear them in moist grass or rain I end up wet. Just got back from a field with knee high moist grass, top off my pants and I'm soaked. Not impressed.

Love love love these pants!

They are my go-to in spring fall and winter. The wind proofing provides much warmth. I love OR products

Love my Aspire Gore-Tex pants

So light and comfortable I forget I'm wearing them! The very deep back pocket works well for a variety of things I might want to take with me.... My size medium fits comfortably over my other pants.

Fit is not right

I'm sure these pants would have functioned well; they certainly seem to be made well. However, I did not get an opportunity to test them, because the fit was very off. The waist and thighs fit like I expected, but, like some other reviews mentioned, the bottom of these pants are exceptionally wide. I know this is partly necessary to help get pants over shoes and whatnot, but this is over the top. I felt like I was tripping over myself, so I ended up returning them.
