Cloudchaser 3L Jacket offers breathable stretch protection for all-season touring
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve worn the Cloudchaser 3L Jacket in whiteout conditions and bluebird spring laps. It's breathable on the skintrack, totally weatherproof in storms, and the fit is spot-on for layering. The stretch fabric doesn’t restrict movement, and the pass pocket, pit zips, and helmet-compatible hood are dialed for touring days."
We count on the Cloudchaser 3L Jacket when the mission includes deep snow, long approaches, and unpredictable weather. Designed with Pertex Shield 3L stretch fabric, this shell provides reliable waterproofing and breathability with the mobility we need when earning our turns.
Outdoor Research built the Cloudchaser with a slew of backcountry-specific features: underarm zips for dumping heat fast, a helmet-compatible hood with multiple adjustments, a powder skirt that seals out deep-day blower, and an internal stash pocket for skins or gloves. It’s durable enough for daily touring and light enough to pack for big objectives.

OR Cloudchaser 3L jacket
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall this is a great jacket. I often find that jacket arms are not long enough for me and this jacket in a medium fits great for arm length. The overall fit is on the looser side but this ended up coming in handy many times to add layers underneath to stay warm during different times of the day. There is a nice low profile snow skirt to help stay dry and enough pockets for any small items I need to carry. The only reasons that it doesn't get 5 stars is that the fabric gets wet fairly easily when snow is on the wetter side and the zipper is a little sticky. For dry days in the backcountry it is a great choice especially since it is so light and the fabric is breathable and flexible for moving around in.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cloudchaser 3L Pertex jacket is lightweight and breathable, with a nice feel that was softer and quieter than goretex. The sizing was roomy but not oversized, it was easy to fit my big puffy under the jacket. I think this kit would be best for someone who needs one outfit to take them from the resort to the sidecountry to the backcountry. Personally, I prefer an insulated jacket at the resort most of the time and lightweight touring specific gear when I'm in the backcountry. I've never had gear meant to do both, and I felt like it functioned the best in the sidecountry - it didn't quite do either job as well as something tailored to it would. I felt like the material was not very waterproof. It soaked through on me very quickly on several days in both the resort and backcountry, but it does also dry very quickly if you can get out of the elements. There were a few features that were overbuilt on the jacket that make it more suited to the resort, mainly the non-removable powder skirt. I would have removed it if I was able to, but I appreciated the extra coverage and roominess on the days I took the gear straight from the chairlift to the sidecountry. It breathes well and is comfortable, but at the sacrifice of weight and waterproofing. Outdoor Research gave me this free product to try.
