Why We Like The Direct Route II Glove

Checking off our tick list at the crag with our partner requires lots of belaying, rappelling, and general rope management. Thankfully, the Direct Route II Glove prevents rope burn when lowering our partner and keeps our fingers warm as we stand in the shade. Its leather design and breathable mesh combine dexterity with durability for a multi-season solution.

Tough

These gloves are very tough, but I am still able to wear them for firearms and tactical training. Really sturdy product.

They fit well, are comfortable and durable. Not too hot since the backing is light, but not so light it tears or wears out.

Solid gloves. I’ve worn them for trail maintenance and on cooler spring days on my MTB.

Great fit and still nimble enough to untangle 550 cord.

I’ve taken these to the range and worn them the whole time. I’ve also taken them climbing and got great work out of them. No holes yet and used 30+ times in rain, snow, and sun. The glove breathes well but has a hard time drying out unless you really wring them out before you hang them. It’s the leather that holds the water. I will be experimenting with oil treatments to make them more water resistant. Does anyone have any recommendations on weatherproofing leather naturally without loosing the grip?

Great Belay Gloves

I used to view belay gloves as a non-essential when I started climbing, brushing it off as a luxury not worth the weight or cost. However, once I picked these suckers up while they were on-sale I could never go back. They are super durable and pretty rugged, and have withstood a significant amount of abuse from me. Overall great glove, my only gripe is that they can be a bit uncomfortable the first few times wearing them until the stiff leather inside of the gloves near the fingertips is broken in.
