Why We Like The Outdoor Research Ferrosi Pant

We believe that if you can't wear your current pants up mountain peaks, on long plane rides, and to the brewery after the crag, then it's time to upgrade. And we've found that there are few better options than the Ferrosi Pants from Outdoor Research. Not only does the lightweight nature of these pants make it an easy choice for light-and-fast movement in the mountains, but it also prevents lingering moisture from clinging close to your body for hours on end. Accidentally tip your canoe? No worries, the Ferrosi pants dry up and get the adventure back on track in no time.

The Outdoor Research pants are well-suited for hiking, backpacking, and other outdoor activities. Reviewers find the pants to be lightweight, breathable, comfortable, and durable, suitable for a range of weather conditions. The pants have good pockets, including one that can fit a phone. Best comfortable field pants around!!!

As a wildly ranger, pockets are a necessity…along with comfort (as I live in the pants I wear in on my ‘hitches’). These were immediately comfortable. Pockets with zippers are GREAT! Only downside is the fabric pills in high wear spots, especially where my 75L pack rests on my hips. I foresee needing a new pair every 2 seasons but for prodeal price it’s an okay trade off since the comfort is 12/10. The waist tie is also excellent..I have no need for a belt now (but have the option for one…esp. if first aid is a priority [tourniquet]). Overall, the best pants I have worn in my 7 seasons but slightly saddened by the piling. Will buy again as there is a trade-off for comfy but not longevity

Great for summer, bad for longevity

I love these pants for summer hiking. They are lightweight, incredibly stretchy, and quick drying. I wear them almost every weekend when I go hiking. However they pill and fuzz insanely bad. I have so much pilling in random spots across these pants - some spots I don’t even know how they pilled?! It’s very disappointing as these pants are so highly rated but don’t perform as well as they are advertised. I have another pair of hiking pants from a different brand and they have not pilled once. I won’t be purchasing a second pair of these.

great pants!! started pilling quickly

I've had these pants for two months, and I absolutely love them. I initially bought them for hiking, but I've also been wearing them around the house because they're super comfy and stretchy. I love that the have a button closure *and* a drawstring waist. The fabric is quite thin, great for hiking in the summer when it's warm out. I'd give them 5 stars except the fabric by the right front pocket started pilling after the first wash. It's super weird -- I'm not sure why just that area is pilling. I'll still wear them for sure, but I'm a little concerned they won't last very long.

Not What They Used to Be

The material seems thinner than the old Ferrosi and the cut is a bit different. I'm guessing they won't hold up as well but only time will tell. The "short" inseam isn't all that short.

Very comfortable pants, I like them very much. I have one in navy and one in greenish. I like that it doesn't have too much spandex.

Great hiking pants!

I love these hiking pants. They are lightweight and stretchy. I wore them multiple times on a week long trip, and have also hiked extensively in them. They have held up great. The side pocket is the perfect size for a phone. Very comfortable.

Go To Pants

I love these pants, have repurchased many times. They’re super breathable, quick dry, flexible and flattering. They will snag and pill a bit, but that is typical of quick dry fabrics I find. I would love to see more bright colours available. The tapenade yellow that was sold years ago would be great.
