Swift Cap keeps us cool, shaded, and sweat-free on every warm-weather push

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I’ve worn the Swift Cap on everything from hot summer trail runs to exposed alpine hikes—it’s breathable, packs down easily, and stays put even when I’m moving fast. The dark brim cuts glare, and I never feel overheated under it."

When the sun’s high and the miles are long, the Swift Cap is the lightweight shield we trust. Outdoor Research crafted this ultra-breathable cap with recycled bluesign®-approved nylon that wicks moisture, dries fast, and delivers reliable UPF 40+ sun protection. Whether we're logging trail time or pushing up a ridge, it keeps us covered without adding bulk.

We love the thoughtful touches: the dark underside of the brim reduces glare, mesh panels increase ventilation, and a TransAction™ headband manages sweat when the pace picks up. The low-profile fit slides easily under a helmet for alpine missions or bike rides, while the adjustable back buckle dials in a secure fit on the fly. At just 2.5 ounces, it disappears in our pack but stands up to the toughest conditions.

The product is a lightweight, breathable, and comfortable hat suitable for outdoor activities like hiking, running, and fishing. I wear these hats everyday

Love Swift hats and I wear them most days of the week. They're light, stylish, and functional. I've worn them to run marathons, adventures on the water, camping, casual use, pretty much anytime. My only wish is that there was a better way to secure the excess adjustment strap. My head is XL (7 1/2 hat size) and I have just enough excess strap to tuck it, but it sometimes come loose and flaps around annoyingly. Not a huge deal and probably not an issue for anyone with a smaller head. My toddler also loves this hat because it's light and comfortable for him.

Great lightweight hat!

This hat is rad! Super light, fits my larger head, and packs down into a frame bag or pocket without issue! Only hat I've ever had that I can wear all day without noticing it on my head!

One size fits all too big

“One size fits all” hats are too big. I have a large head and they barely fit. My girlfriend has a medium head and they don’t fit at. Horrible design.

Fantastic workout hat!

This is my second of these hats, I wear them every time I run. They are very well built and very breathable. Extremely durable with a comfortable fit, good wicking material (sweat pushed to brim and doesn’t drip down your face, I am an extremely sweaty person), and very good sun coverage. Bill works well with most sunglasses (I have large blocky costa Del Mar’s that fit well under the brim). Only issue I have with it is the tab in the back can be hard to get out of the way due to the difficulty of feeding it back into the hat.

Unisex is TOO big for women

I love my previous cap, but it has been worn to pieces and I tried out the unisex version. I have a normal (even a bit large) head for a woman - and this is cinched almost as far as possible. The result is a fabric pooch on the back of my head that catches wind and is unsightly. I will be returning this cap. I love the reflection, the light weight, and the dark underside of the bill. But the fit doesn't work.

Poor fit with new sizing.

I have 2 of these hats from a few years ago and they were perfect, but I bought 2 more recently and the one-size has changed. It is bigger in every dimension and no longer fits me properly. Looks more like a floppy rag than a snug, well-fit hat. I returned them; hopefully they will offer a couple sizes in the future!

Only buy if you have a medium-sized head

I have a huge head and even bigger hair. I've purchased several OR hats because they make a true XL, unlike many companies. According to the size chart, this hat will only fit a size medium; small, large, and extra large heads are out of luck. As seen in these reviews, small heads and large heads are all bummed by the fit. This hat is so similar to the sun runner, which comes in a range of sizes -- why not make one of your best-selling caps in a range of sizes?

Excellent High Volume Hat

This hat is very comfortable, lightweight and breathable, and has enough volume to fit many sizes of head. I use it primarily for hiking and running and often forget it's there.

Enjoy this hat. Use it for running. Lightweight and nice fitting. Easy to wash and comes out looking like it should. Able to extend for large head.
