Why We Like The X-Alp Flow Shoe
Pearl Izumi designed the X-Alp Flow Shoe with the needs of trail riders in mind, and we like that this is a shoe for flat pedals that maintains a high grip. It's ideal for when we need to hop off our bikes, too, thanks to open, chevron-shaped lugs in the toe and heel areas that provide traction and confidence. An EVA midsole absorbs shock from hard landings and dual-density zonal outsole compounds deliver the ideal blend of exceptional grip and durability. Lightweight upper materials and fewer seams eliminate hot spots by conforming to your foot shape. That and the traditional lace closure offers all-day comfort.

Comfortable Shoes
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 41
These shoes are comfy, don't require break-in and have a wide toe box.I like that there is an elastic band under the laces (I'm assuming) to tuck your tied laces into so they don't get caught in your chain ring. The only improvement would be to add a bit more traction on the bottom for those times that you need to push your bike. Overall, good solid shoes and are not too hot. I typically wear a size 40 but wear 41 in Pearl Izumi.

Love these shoes
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Great flat pedal shoe! I have flat, overpronated feet, so I only wear them on my bike and switch to a different shoe for walking. They are great for the purpose tho!

Comfortable, light MTB shoes
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 38
- Height:
- 5' 2"
- Weight:
- 115
These are very comfortable and have good traction for flat pedals. They are low profile compared to some other MTB shoes and are comfortable for walking around in after biking. I wear a 6.5 shoe and originally bought the 37, but had to exchange for the 38 which fits perfect.

Sizing Always an Issue
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- 37
I was sooo excited to finally find a good looking flat pedal women's bike shoe in my size... or so I thought. I know sizing is always funky. In researching everyone said to go up a size. I usually wear a 36, 36.5 or 37 (Danskos, Ski boots, birks, running shoes). So I ordered a 37... they're too big. There's a good 1/3 of an inch from the end of my toe to the tip of the shoe. Too big :( so I will be returning and trying for a smaller size. Unfortunately, Backcountry doesn't carry them in a 36, but the Pearl Izumi does! The shoe is very attractive (for a mountain bike shoe), seems well built and comfortable if you can figure out the correct size!
