Why We Like The Blacksmith 6in Boot

Back in the day, the Red Wing Heritage Blacksmith 6in Boot would have been worn when we were shoeing a horse or tilling the field. Today, we can wear it when we're wrenching on our bike or taking a ride downtown.

The natural leather upper is built to break in for more comfort over time, and the boot is made with a Goodyear welt, ensuring it will withstand the test of time. The Mini-lug Vibram sole offers adequate traction whether you're working in the fields or taking a walk through stumptown.

Here's what customers have to say

These boots are generally well-made and durable, though they may require some break-in time to become very comfortable. Many users find them to be high-quality and able to withstand heavy use. However, some customers have experienced quality control issues or found the fit to be too narrow or uncomfortable. Overall, the boots seem to be a good option, but customers should be prepared for an adjustment period and ensure they order the right size.

These boots are the best!

These are the boots my grandfather wore when I was young. Now I’m in my 60’s. I’ve had my current pair for 10 years. Wear them everyday to work on my farm. Once they get broken in they are very comfortable. They’ve been wet, covered in mud and they clean up great. If you regularly do maintenance they will last a long time.

This boot is like a fine shot of whiskey

Well, I guess I bought the Iron Rangers a few days ago, maybe a week or two ago. And then of course you can't have just one pair of boots... There really isn't much left to say except, I got the Blacksmiths in Prairie Black and they are gorgeous.

“Pilgrim stompers”

Many women in my life have told me that these shows are reminiscent of pilgrim shoes. My “Benjamin Franklins” or my “colonizer kicks”. Personally I’ve always thought they were more like docs. Had them 5 years resolved once, they’ve gone everywhere. Love em.

1 yyear later

I wear these for work as a copier service tech. 99% is office work so not any abuse. Usually wear them 3-5 days a week. Clean them 2-3 times a month and condition them every 2-3 months. Very easy to scratch and of course they have the ubiquitous speed hook wear on tongue. The left boot has developed a pop in the shank or heel, so all in all I would not purchase these again.

Perfect fit

I love these boots. Perfect fit straight out of the box thanks to Red Wing’s foot scanner. I just wish they offered more leather styles in this model like they do the moc toe.

Beautiful Craftsmanship

Thank you for such a beautiful boot! Please let the maker know how much I appreciate their craft. This is my second purchase, but I had to return the first one because it was too big for a 7D and the toe boxes were mismatched. I was a little gun shy to try again, and boy am I glad I did. Very impressed! You’ve restored my faith in humanity! 😊 💐🍬

I love these boots….

I bought them a month or so ago. I have this weird thing with lower heeled shoes as they irritate my back. I went back to the store and bought the slim inserts which totally took care of that issue. These boots are great. My last pair of Redwings were Irish Setter before it was a line, back in that day they were just one boot (50 years ago) my dad bought them for me and I loved those darn boots. Now I finally have my second pair and I love them just as much!

Love these boots!

I bought the black ones maybe 5 years ago, I don't have that many pairs of shoes, and walks them from the city to the forest, in all weathers. I walk a lot (30 miles a week?), and need some shoes that can deal with that. I just wore through the first sole, the nails from the heel were showing... and they're still looking great! For sure some scruff marks here and there, but certainly not like a pair that got worn for 5 years. It seems that if you take care of them (I regularly clean, condition and polish them) they'll last forever. Once I can get the money I'll go for another pair of Red Wing for sure! My only regret? I think I got them half a size too big, and it seems like I will have to deal with that for a few more years...

Super Dope !

My Blacksmiths are about 3 years old. I broke them in by walking 5.8 miles afterwork on the boardwalk in Ocean City in the dead of winter, my walking club would laugh at me, and I’d be a liar if I said it wasn’t tough.. It was the best break I’ve ever pulled off, I wear ‘em with no socks all the time these bad boys are like gloves on my feet.. The only treatment I ever do is some Hubbards Shoe Grease if I remember, I just smear it all over the seams, just in case… I was stomping around in puddles just the other day thinking about what a great product RedWing makes, I have boots from the other ‘big’ brands, my #8 Last Blacksmiths are my goto, if I can’t wear FlipFlops, Love ‘em , they are Super Dope !
