Why We Like The MonoRail Solo Platform Hitch Rack
Your friends are great and all, but they have the tendency to slow you down out on the trail. So say no to the boring group ride, secure your bike to the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Platform Hitch Rack, and head out for some serious one-on-one bonding time with your favorite singletrack loop.
Lightweight, compact, and easy to use, this hitch bike rack quickly loads your bike with platform wheel trays and ratcheting arms for a confident drive to the trailhead, and then folds against the car with a quick-release handle to tidy things up after you've put the bike away for the day. Two separate components that fit both 1.25-inch and 2-inch hitch receiver sizes come included in the box to get you on your way as quickly as possible, while the included anti-wobble locking hitch bolt keeps the rack tight and secure on the drive there and back again. RockyMounts also tossed in some locks to fasten the rack to your car, and then the bike to the rack, with just one key for simple convenience.

Quality rack at a good price
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I’ve now had numerous Rockymounts products. Like the others, this rack is well built and works as it should. If I have one minor complaint it would be the cable lock system. It works, but is not very tough. The lock could easily be broken. The remainder of the functions are solid and work great.

Good Rack Overall
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Pros Compact Size Works with all my bikes Fat Tire Extender is great Cons A little bouncy Locking mechanism is meh This is a nice single bike rack that sits low and close to the car. It doesn't block the camera which is really nice. It was easy to assemble and install. I would absolutely recommend it.

Nice rack for the price. I can also leave it in the up position and open the hatch of my sportswagen. Big win there 🙌

Holds onto fork more then tires
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Purchased this rack with high expectations. Sold it after about 3 uses for $100. Regardless of what bike I put on it, it grabbed so much more fork then actual tire. Should have just went with a 1up rack in the first place. Customer service said certain bikes will need to have a piece or foam or towel inserted between the bike and the rack. I used a pretty run of the mill gravel bike and mountain bike with it and had rubbing on both. Very irritating m.

Am overall happy! A few mimor hiccups...
- Familiarity:

Used with a e-bike SCOR 4060 Z ST 29er 50lb bike. Used on a 2000 Acura TL 3.2. I wanted to use my Acura TL because its good on gas...needed a smaller hitch size to mount and was glad this had both two components to fit hitch sizes 1.25in and 2in. The 2inch hard plastic adapter come off with a allen type screw... to use with other vehicle if needed. I like that you can expand this unit for other bikes ... First. Packaged and delivery exceptional. Second, instructions and manual to put together was easy to understand. Took me about 20-30 minutes to put together. went on easy... like the locking mechanism as well... Now, my Acura has a class 1 hitch that tucks a bit under my rear bumper- its nice as it doesnt stick out and is hidden... its not so nice because i need hitch mounts that are longer than normal... With this particular bike mounting system it does stick out enough to be able to fold the unit up when not using as it hits my rear bumper... kinda of a bummer for me and my particular model. wish it could be adjustable a bit more on hitch but it is what it is... Driving with my heavy ebike is not an issue at all. Taking bike on and off is easy...and removing from hitch on my car is a breeze, not too heavy... Overall I am happy with this bike carrier and its design and materials.

Great solo rack
- Familiarity:

I own a Yakima Ridgeback 5 since and it was fine since I use it to carry my family's bikes but 95% of the time I only need it for my bike. For that purpose it wasn't as useful because you have to lower the rack even without a bike in order to access the trunk. It also sticks out a fair amount and you need to use a special bar to load MTBs. This Rockymount solved those problems and I'm very happy with it. With no bike loaded I can once again access my rear trunk using the remote without lowering the hitch rack. I can load my MTB without any additional equipment. The included lock is also thicker and longer than the Yakima lock which makes securing it easier and more reliable. There is some assembly involved. Nothing difficult and all tools are included but the printed instructions are lacking. The installation video on youtube is much more helpful. This rack is also very affordable compared to other solo or dual racks I researched. Highly recommend this for solo cyclists.
