S/Lab Genesis LTD Courtney V2 blends elite performance and rugged durability in a limited-edition colorway

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I ran a section of the Tahoe Rim Trail in these and immediately got what all the buzz was about. The Genesis is lightweight but tough as nails. Matryx upper feels unbreakable, and the grip is next level. Knowing Courtney crushed Western, UTMB, and Hardrock in these? Even more inspiring."

The S/Lab Genesis LTD Courtney V2 Trail Running Shoe isn’t just a signature colorway—it’s the symbol of a performance legacy. Worn by ultrarunning icon Courtney Dauwalter during her history-making 2023 triple crown (Western States, UTMB, and Hardrock), this limited-edition version of Salomon’s flagship trail shoe is built to tackle every kind of terrain the mountains can throw at you.

With a Matryx® upper reinforced by Kevlar threads, the Genesis is impossibly durable yet breathable. Energy Foam cushioning and a forefoot rocker combine for smooth propulsion on long efforts, while a Profeel Film rock plate and reinforced toe cap handle technical, rocky trails with ease. The two-part lug pattern grips confidently in varied terrain, whether you're crossing loose shale or buffed-out singletrack. From personal bests to FKT dreams, this is the shoe built to go the distance—fast.

My new go-to

I am on my 2nd pair of S/LAB Genesis shoes and ran many a day last 2 winters in the Genesis Spines. I run 20-60 miles/week depending on time of year. I am a heavy runner at ~190 lb with water and kit. Most of my miles are in the Wasatch mountains of Utah so terrain varies from buffed single track to rock scrambling and snow. These shoes are by far the most stable and comfortable shoes I have run in. The are also stiff enough to minimize painful rock stabs. Considerably better than any Hoka I have run in on both measures. I do have one favor to ask of the development team. Could you please consider adding some additional support to the inside (medial) heal portion of the shoe? Perhaps stiffening the medial side of the heel counter or the midsole. Maybe extend the medial stiffener as far as the lateral. The lateral heel support is awesome!! Reason being -many of the trails I run are off camber. Sometimes considerably. When I am running downhill and heel breaking I am putting a lot of stress on the medial heel portion of the shoe. I believe this is causing the midsole to crush and breakdown. I also find times when running uphill in off camber and rutted trails that I am stressing the same area. I have a neutral gate on road so I do think it is a combination of terrain and being a heavy runner that is the source of the stress and breakdown. What I would love is that my shoes wore a little more evenly. I am retiring my S/LAB Genesis' with 180-200 miles due to considerable angling in the heel cushion. Soles and uppers are still in great shape. Still giving the S/LAB Genesis a 5 star as they are absolutely brilliant until they break down. The Courtney edition is also really cool looking with a bit of dirt.
