Fabulous long-distance shoes for mixed terrain

I bought these for a multi-day running event along the South West Coast Path and they are worth every penny - well-cushioned without being clunky, superb grip including on slippery stone (within reason) and a sock-like secure fit. I have long narrow feet with slim heels and it's hard to find shoes that fit as men's models tend to be too wide - these really deliver.

The GOAT of Trail Running shoes

I've tried shoes from every major brand over a 15 year trail running career, including maybe 8 different models of Salomon shoes. These are the pinnacle of achievement.. and the fact that they are nearly always sold out is evidence of this. Simply the best you can buy for actual, demanding mountain running. Accept no other.

Favorite All Around Trail Shoe

The SLAB Genesis is a wonderful all around trail shoe and one I reach for the most when heading out. Between the quick lace system and small gator the shoe has an incredible lock down and virtually zero slippage when ripping technical trails. I'm usually on steep and uneven ground when ripping the carnivorous crust and this is the only shoe that keeps my feet happy with no blistering. The traction is great, outside of mud that invokes bambi esque balance, to the point I never need to worry about slipping. The mid sole is incredible for a trail shoe and provides the misguided confidence to run way too hard for my own good. Personally, the only limitation for me with the shoe is the distance as I do not have tough enough feet to endure 100 miles or more in these bad boys (however I have seen plenty of others hucking hundos in these come race day). It is my go to 100km race day shoe, all the way down to a short lil joggy jog thru the woods. And the durability, oh my, plan to get insane mileage out of these puppies. I bet they last longer than your feet do. God Bless the SLab Genesis.

Best shoe I have used in 5 years of ultra running

Bought a month ago, super stoked on them. Amazing fit and heel lock, the lacing system adds to the shaping of the foot. The stretchy sock interior holds your foot nice. Good support for 100k +. Unreal shoe.

Great trail shoe

First pair was a bit rough around one of the gaiters, but Salomon supported the product and the second pair has been flawless after break-in. By far my favorite trail shoe for rocky terrain and they drain really well. Wish the paper-thin stock insole wasn't glued, but I didn't have any issues using it until I opted to go with a more supportive third-party option.

Trustworthy trail running shoes

Comfortable, firm, and beautiful shoes! Have enough support for my relatively high arch. Finished my first UTMB 20K run with it.

Inadequate for demanding terrain

During the climb (and especially the descent) to Mt. Pico sole almost fell apart, making the descent very difficult and slippery.

Excellent for city parks!

I've had these for about 6 months and they are perfect for changing conditions - sloping paved road to uneven tiled pavers to dirt paths to marble stairs, these shoes are super supportive and grippy.

Excellent work Salomon

Size Bought:
9.5, little longer than non slab

I've got 200mi in a pair of these so far and grabbed a second pair from backcountry for when those are cooked. So glad to have a good mid-stack, non plated shoe in a world of max cushioned or plated shoes. The shoe is light and rips. I'd run any distance in these, knowing my legs will bark before my feet ever do. Ive run many 20+ milers where ive never once touched the laces or ajusted. Midsole is perfect and love the extra softness in the heel on desents. I think these are well worth the little extra cost over the non s/lab version - slightly softer and more responsive foam, larger toe box, and bigger lug spacing. These arent your bounciest option for flatter/faster ultras but these would be my #1 race pick for anything with even moderate technical.

These are pretty great

the S/LAB Genesis are the most comfortable trail shoes I've worn. I like softer but responsive shoes, and these fit the bill. They don't beat me up when I run on the road to the trail, they are light and nimble feeling, they grip well, and they hug the foot nicely. If I had to pick something to fix, I would like a little more underfoot protection from rocks. They've never hurt me, but I do feel them if I step on something sharp.
