Great mountain shoe for the Idaho backcountry
I’ve been wearing the wide version of this GTX shoe over several years and by far has been something I can do 100 miles or so wearing during a summer in the mountains with comfort and convenience.

NOT wide
I ordered these because of the WIDE notation. Well, they were actually one of the narrowest shoes I ever tried... Other than that, they do look cool.

Outstanding
Great looking pair of boots, super grippy soles and my feet have stayed dry during a downpour. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Great durability but could use more breathability
These shoes are impressively durable and well-constructed — they’ve held up wonderfully through daily wear and tough conditions. However, they could really benefit from better ventilation. After a few hours, it feels like my feet are in a sauna! If breathability improves in future versions, they’d be an unbeatable choice. Still, a solid pick for anyone prioritizing toughness and long wear.

Happy husband
Bought these boots for my husband for his birthday. He wore them straight away and had no problems doing a long walk up and down hill. He says they are comfortable and he likes how they look.

5 stars out of 5
I bought the x ultra 4 boots in 2020. I've done about 5-10 miles in them, six days a week for 5 years. That's 7.5 x 6 x 365 x 5 = 82,000 miles, in rain, sun and snow, on concrete, grass and woodland, hot and cold. I haven't even had to change the laces. The treads are worn down now and a small split has appeared near the front on the left, which allows water in when I stand in a puddle. Looking forward to another 5 years of use with these new x ultra 5. They came exactly as they look on the photo and are a comfortable fit right out the box.

Comfortable hiking foot wear
I have had the product for over a month . So far no issues. Walking on trails ( gravel to slightly complex and uneven ) . I was walking in wet grass , the boot got soaked but my feet stayed dry.

Pricey but soft and leak slightly
Spent time with a new pair of extra wide fit in the Scottish Munroes. Good boots with little to no breaking in needed. Crossed a few streams and discovered they leak a little, but less than other brands. Apart from that they're really comfortable and pretty cool. The wide fit is much appreciated

Super comfortable hiking boots
Salomon was not kidding when they said they have made significant improvements on the X ultra 5. The upper looks amazing and more durable, and the outsole is roughly an inch or so thicker than the previous model. I still recommend you switch the insoles for better support so you won’t feel the rocks as much 😁

Wide is still way too narrow
My current pair of low-cut hiking shoes are the X Ultra GTX 2's in a size 10. I have a wide fore- and mid-foot with a fairly narrow heel, and those shoes fit me pretty well. However, even with the wide version of these in size 10, the midfoot is still way too narrow, and half my foot is extending beyond the sole at its narrowest point, meaning the midfoot is digging into my arch really uncomfortably. These are not truly a "wide" fit shoe; I've worn standard "D" width shoes that are wider than these (which are supposed to be "EE"). I really wanted to like these shoes, as I'm a fan of the quick lacing system, and the cushioning feels fantastic and my heel is cupped really well; however, the narrow midfoot section is a complete dealbreaker. Please consider revising your sole sizing measurements appropriately.
