Endorphin Speed 5 Running Shoe powers us forward with a snappy, spring-loaded ride
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I've put in serious miles with the Endorphin Speed 5, and it’s easily my favorite for tempo days and long runs. That PWRRUN PB foam stays incredibly light and springy, and the nylon plate gives just enough propulsion without feeling overly stiff. It’s fast but forgiving."
When we’re chasing PRs or just chasing the sun down the trail, the Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 Running Shoe keeps us light on our feet and charging ahead. Built on a platform of responsive PWRRUN PB foam, this shoe brings max energy return and a bouncy underfoot feel that keeps every stride efficient and alive.
Saucony carries over the trusted nylon plate from the Speed 4, adding a bit more flexibility to boost both comfort and stability without sacrificing propulsion. The 38mm stack height and 8mm drop remain unchanged, delivering a familiar ride that feels balanced and fast. Whether we’re logging base miles or picking up the pace, this shoe brings the speed.

Great Speed Shoe
Bought these to add to my shoe rotation for workouts, they feel really nice on your feet and fit well. The only thing I've found with them is that it's harder to strike flat-footed as they kind of force you into a heel roll.

Disappointed in endurance and quality of sole
I bought these Saucony endorphin speed 5 on 7/14/25 from a local sports store and the bottom 'skin' is wearing off already on 8/3/25. So disappointed in the quality or rather lack of quality of these running shoes. I typically run 30+ miles a week so I'm not doing tons of miles and I run road not trail. I was having some issue with my Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 as well and figured upgrade would be better. Although I love the bounce and energy of this model, I'm swearing off Saucony Endorphin Speed for GOOD. These are too expensive for this to happen and so soon after purchase!!

Not as Good as the Speed 2, 3 or 4
I really liked the Speed 2, 3 and 4. They were flexible and felt fast. I could slip them on and they fit my feet well. The 5 is certainly different. It's a good shoe but feels stiff and ridged. The 2, 3 and 4 felt lite. This feels clunky, heavier. It doesn't fit my foot as well as the previous shoes and it's certainly more difficult to get through the gait cycle. I can't say I really notice any benefits with the change in the nylon plate. It's not a bad shoe; if you like it, enjoy it. Speaking for myself, I'll have to find something else.

Laces too short
I have owned 3, 4 and now speed 5. They have all been great including the new ones. On the 5s the outsole at the heels looks a little thicker which was a problem for me on the 4s. But the laces are very short. They measure 39" and I can barely tie the shoes. Maybe the laces and upper will give a little over time but for now this is going to bum me out every time I use them.

Firmer ride, less pop, but improved upper.
My baseline for this review is the Speed 4. After 80 miles, the ES5 feels firmer, which I don't mind. However, it seems to have lost some of the 'pop' I enjoyed in the previous version. While I can still get a good leg turnover, I just feels a little sluggish. This isn't a dealbreaker; it's still a very solid shoe, though it feels slightly less like an all-around trainer. The upper is 100% improved, and I find the toe box fits better. For me the dream shoe would be the new upper on the old midsole.

The magic is back!
I loved the springiness of V3 which was lost in V4 but V5 gets back to it and keeps everything else about the model I fell in love with in the first place.
