Versatile and precise, the Vapor V Climbing Shoe delivers all-around performance for sport, trad, and bouldering

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"The Vapor V is my go-to for all-around climbing. It’s got just the right mix of support and sensitivity, making it a great choice for everything from technical face climbing to overhung routes. The Vibram® XS Edge rubber sticks well on tiny footholds, and the moderate downturn gives me power without sacrificing comfort. Whether I’m sport climbing, bouldering, or even tackling trad routes, this shoe does it all."

When we need one shoe to handle it all, the Scarpa Vapor V Climbing Shoe delivers. Designed with a moderate downturn and asymmetric shape, it strikes the perfect balance between power and comfort, making it ideal for sport climbing, trad, and bouldering alike. The Vibram® XS Edge rubber outsole provides outstanding grip and durability, helping us stick to even the smallest footholds with confidence.

A combination of leather and synthetic materials in the upper molds to our feet for a precise, comfortable fit, while the Flexan midsole enhances support without sacrificing sensitivity. The dual-strap closure system allows for quick adjustments, ensuring a snug fit whether we’re working a project or tackling a long multi-pitch. For climbers seeking a do-it-all shoe that doesn’t compromise on performance, the Vapor V is the ultimate choice.

I decided to take a chance and step outside the La Sportiva world and are pleasantly surprised with the Vapors. I mainly climb in Miuras and was looking for a less aggressive shoe so i went to REI and tried on many models of Scarpa and sizes to hone in my fit. Im a 43/10 street shoe, 41.5/42 in Sportiva (i like em tight and break them in) and found depending on the model I'm a 42/42.5 Scarpa. The Vapors are less aggressive and found 42 is the sweet spot. After 3 sessions they start to break in. I can feel the toe and grip and while it doesn’t over perform in any specific area, I find them extremely comfortable and great for all types of climbing. One down side is the heel hooking. Not very forgiving with smaller hold heel hooks. Overall great shoe for high mileage gym sessions and what I think is a superb upgrade for any beginner climber.
