Why We Like The SIDI Tiger 2S Mountain Clipless Shoe
Whether we are racing or just riding our local singletrack, the SIDI Tiger 2S Mountain Clipless Shoe is one of our favorites to throw on. Featuring a lightweight design and a durable and recycled upper material made out of fiber and plant material, this shoe was designed to perform and keep us comfortable for hours on the bike. The Tecno-3 System uses two dials to make for a secure closer, and the adjustable heel retention device helps to keep our foot snug and locked in. The MTB SRS Carbon sole is super stiff lightweight, and offers good power transfer when sprinting.

Stiff durable upper w/ some key problems
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Like all Sidis, the upper of the shoe is durable--I've had this shoe for many years, and the upper of the shoe is still intact. The sole is stiff--perhaps a bit too stiff, as I do sometimes get foot pain on long downhills. The main downsides are twofold--and kind of inexcusable for a shoe this expensive. The Tecno closures have a weak cord that splits easily with use against the edge of the upper outside the tongue. Though they are replaceable, they are expensive--$65 for a pair. I've replaced 4 of these so far, and I think I'm done. (I hear BOAs can be replaced for free.) The second is that, although the soles are partly replaceable, they are hard to find in standard sizes, so I have been unable to get replacements for those as well. So while part of the reason I chose these shoes is the ability to replace worn out parts, the practice of being able to do falls short of the ideal. Thus, I think my next shoes may be something else.
