Trudging through a river is hard work—and hard on boots—which is why we like the Simms Freestone Boot. The uppers feature a sturdy combination of waterproof synthetic leather and scratch rubber for abrasion-resistance and time-tested durability for hiking riverbanks and negotiating unseen hazards on the river bottom. The rubber outsoles give us good wet and dry traction while the partial neoprene lining insulates and cushions our feet alongside the soft, EVA foam midsoles. We can wear these boots with any stockingfoot-style waders or pair them with the Simms Freestone Stockingfoot Waders for a perfectly matched set.

Customer Images
Here's what customers have to say
The wading boots are generally well-received, with customers praising their comfort, durability, and traction. They are described as lightweight, supportive, and true to size, suitable for long days of fishing and hiking. Many highlight the excellent ankle support and ability to keep feet dry even in cold, wet conditions. However, some report issues with traction, particularly on slippery or rocky surfaces, suggesting the rubber soles lack grip. Overall, the majority of customers seem very satisfied, citing the boots' great value, comfort, and performance.

Great lightweaight wading boots
In my first 3-day trail, the boots were great. Light and comfortable but supportive river wading conditions with some fast water and boulders. The felt soles instead of hard rubber soles may have been a better pairing with the hard bit star cleats for this river known to have slippery rocks and lave tubes. The boots were great.

Fantastic boots!
Wore these in Maine fishing for a couple of days then 6 days straight in Alaska. Great fit, support, and traction (without cleats). A definite winner!

Great boots!
These boots are comfortable, durable and grippy, and I definitely give them 5 stars. I fish them in the fresh and salt, and I also frequently hike in them. Paired with the Freestone wader they're a great combination without breaking the bank!

Freestones
I have been wearing these daily since May. My shop's trips are mostly walk/wade so putting lots of miles in. Size 11 boot and a size 10 street shoe. I've had previous models of the freestones in the past and I really like these. Easy to take on and off. Stud's are still in place, sometimes I just re-tighten them and snug them up. These will definitely last this guide season and hopefully into next. I will definitely be getting a new pair for next season. Durability factor is a 5 star rating. The sole's seem to be holding up better than previous models. So far after 145 days of use I would strongly recommend Freestone boots.

Best boot I’ve ever had!
Hands down this has been the best wading boot I have ever had. Easy to slide into, easy to tie, and super comfortable! A little stiff but did not feel like it will take long to break in. I had heavy socks on and was able to pretty much stay in the water the entire time. It was snowing, my vehicle said it was 26 degrees outside.

Great Boots
Bought these for a 2 week trip to Argentina. They performed as I knew a Simms product would. They were comfortable with great ankle support, which was important while walking across the rocky terrain. Love all my Simms gear!
