Why We Like The XG-1295 X01 Eagle 12-Speed Cassette
Walking your bike up a hill is a bit like wearing a cone-of-shame—exposed, dreadful, and a bit sad. We stay on our bike and avoid feelings of embarrassment with the SRAM XG-1295 X01 Eagle 12-Speed Cassette. The cassette lets you tackle moderate slopes with the typical 10-42t configuration and then click over to the massive 50t or 52t cog when the pitches start to get the better of you. Although principally designed to help keep your legs turning during power-sapping switchbacks, you also will be able to scorch flatter trails in the 10t cog, making it ideal for lighting up smooth hardpack. The stunning aesthetics of the SRAM X-Dome design not only add class to your drivetrain, but also shed weight and any mud you kick up throughout the day. Crafted to be compatible with the SRAM XD 11-sd driver, the Eagle cassette is an easily mounted workhorse ready for duty.

SRAM expendable parts are JUNK
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've realized what SRAM's business model partly entails. Make groupsets extremely cheap for manufacturers, then make the parts that wear, in this case cassettes (but also chains, derailleur hangers, etc.) complete junk. As the other two reviews have mentioned, this cassette and the GX are pure trash. The teeth outright bend if you put down any watts. They break off for seemingly no reason. Warranty? Yeah right! Everything to them is "normal wear and tear." I barely got 600 miles out of mine before 1) 5 of the teeth had broken off and 2) Cogs 4 and 5 had noticeable bend OUTWARDS (meaning it happened from the chain tension, not from a crash or something) making shifting unpredictable to impossible. Frankly with the Japanese company's offerings being 1/4 to 1/3 of the price and being a superior product, you'd think SRAM might wise up, or at least warranty people when there are issues. Frankly I wouldn't own another SRAM drivetrain because spending $500+ just to get a cassette that actually works is insane.
