Altamesa 500 Trail Running Shoe delivers high-cushion comfort and trail-ready support for off-road runs

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"After logging miles on rocky singletrack and gravel service roads, I’m blown away by how stable and cushioned the Altamesa 500 feels. The DREAM midsole has incredible rebound without feeling too soft, and the fit holds tight without hot spots—even on long days."

We trust the Altamesa 500 Trail Running shoe when our training routes take us from smooth gravel paths to rugged switchbacks. Designed in collaboration with The North Face athlete team, this shoe delivers the responsive support and soft landing we need to go the distance. The ultralight DREAM foam midsole cushions our stride while returning energy with every step, while the padded collar and tongue lock down the fit without adding bulk.

The engineered mesh upper keeps things breathable while offering support with strategic overlays and a reinforced toe cap. Underfoot, the SURFACE CTRL™ rubber outsole is optimized with grippy 4mm lugs and made from 20% rubber sourced from smallholder farmers using regenerative practices. From neighborhood loops to alpine ridgelines, the Altamesa 500 keeps us moving forward with confidence and comfort.

Super comfortable and roomy for toes

I walk a lot in areas with lots of hills and varying elevations. These are perhaps the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn . Just bought a second pair!!

Great Purchase

I purchased these shoes because I noticed the heel was very thick as I do a lot of walking at work. These shoes are very comfortable. I hope to see them in a solid black in the future.

Really comfy trail runner

I really dig these shoes. I wear them every day for work and I also use them for hiking and trail running. They are extremely comfortable and they breathe really well. Sadly, I'm wearing them out very fast, but I guess that just goes with wearing them every day. That would be the only negative I have to say about them. If you're looking for something extremely comfortable, you came to the right place.

Avoid!

If you're looking for a pair of shoes to roll your ankles in, then look no further! Not good for any semi-technical or hilly trails. I'll keep these for flat trails and gravel roads, nothing else.

Excellent trail shoe !

Just picked up my 5th pair of TNF Altamesa 500. Great trail shoe with cushion and stability. Forefoot lugs are 4 mm. It would be nice if they had 5 mm forefoot lugs for increased traction. It has just been a good fit on all trail conditions.

These are extremely comfortable and they provide the support I like and need in a sneaker. I can't say enough about how comfortable these are.

I started running gravel trails and road with this shoe. It's now my favourite everyday wear shoe. 10/10 would buy it again!
