Borealis 17.5L Convertible Pack adapts from daypack to lumbar carry with ease

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"This bag is brilliant for travel. I love that it converts from a backpack to a lumbar pack in seconds, so I’m never stuck carrying more than I need. The bungee system is great for stashing a layer, and the water-repellent fabric holds up to surprise rain showers."

Versatility is everything when we’re on the move, and the North Face Borealis 17.5L Convertible Pack makes sure we’re prepared for any adventure. The North Face designed this convertible pack to transition effortlessly from a streamlined daypack to a lumbar pack, so we can carry only what we need without compromising storage space.

Durable, recycled ripstop nylon with a non-PFC DWR finish keeps our gear dry when the weather shifts, while the signature bungee system gives us flexible storage for jackets or extra layers. A stowable hip belt, multiple pockets, and intuitive organization help us stay dialed in from airports to trailheads. However we choose to carry it, this pack is ready to adapt.

10 out of 5 stars, this is a great pack!

After receiving this backpack I used it for a 5-day trip, great size for stowing under the seat on the airplane. I tend to pack light but there was plenty of room in this pack and it is great to be able to turn it into a waist pack if you just want to carry around a little bit of stuff during the day.

Great idea, but needs improvement

This bag is an excellent idea, but the conversion to a waist pack isn't much used. It doesn't hold much and is a bit cumbersome.

I love this bag

Perfect for school and hiking. Plenty of room inside the main compartment and the pockets are great to store all your loose gear or phone.

Small day to day backpack

This is a great backpack for those who need a light day to day pack. The fanny pack function is great when you have to attend outdoor functions. My favorite part of this backpack is the webbing on back. Many of us have to carry two phones and the small pocket feature works!

Lightweight Bag

The product was intended for day use - carrying an iPad or computer. Occasionally for hiking and travel. The bag does not provide much support to the interior components. It is a very light bag that appears to dry quickly- it is easily packed itself and doesn't require much space.

I wouldn't buy this again.

This bag is much lighter, and material much thinner than I expected from the picture. This bag doesn't hold shape. This material feels more like tarp-like material.
