Offtrail TR GORE-TEX Shoe keeps you fast, dry, and protected off the beaten path

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I’ve taken these from alpine scrambles to wet singletrack—they grip like glue and shed water better than any lightweight hiker I’ve worn. The Matryx® upper feels incredibly tough yet breathable, and the GORE-TEX keeps my feet bone dry through puddles and mud. Perfect for fast-moving missions where stability and waterproofing are non-negotiable."

When we’re pushing through wet, rugged, or unpredictable terrain, The North Face Offtrail TR GORE-TEX Shoe keeps pace with our ambition. Designed for speed and protection, it blends advanced waterproofing with lightweight durability to go wherever the trail—or lack thereof—leads.

The Matryx® forefoot, reinforced with Kevlar®, provides exceptional abrasion resistance and support, while the PFAS-free GORE-TEX membrane seals out rain, streams, and mud. Underfoot, a high-rebound EVA midsole cushions every step with 24mm of support in the heel and 18mm at the forefoot. The SURFACE CTRL™ rubber outsole with 5mm lugs grips confidently across slick rock, mud, and gravel, giving us stability we can trust from trailhead to summit.

Great trail & approach shoe

I've really been loving this shoe. I use them for trail running, backpacking trip on Baffin Island, approaching climbs and last week used them as my footwear to descend the Beckey-Chouinard on S Howser in the Bugaboos with some light crampons. They're a bit stiffer than similar trail shoes (e.g. Speedcross), but I like that! Exterior fabric has been very durable too.

I love them

The Men's Offtrail TR GORE-TEX® Shoes are a game changer for anyone who loves hiking or exploring rugged terrain. They offer outstanding grip and stability, even on slippery or uneven trails. The GORE-TEX lining keeps your feet completely dry while still allowing them to breathe, making them ideal for wet or muddy conditions. They're surprisingly lightweight for how durable and protective they are, and the fit is secure without feeling tight. Highly recommended for serious outdoor adventurers who need reliable all-weather performance.

Great product

Well built & solid shoe. A little warm but worth it for waterproofing. May be my favorite trail runner ever out of box. Time will tell if they hold up.

Disappointing

I bought these to use in wet, muddy Norway and purchased them in October 2024. So far they haven't held up well at all in everyday activities and hikes/runs ranging from 10-30km. The pros include that they are a good looking trail running shoe, they are great for my wide feet, and are comfortable for even longer hikes 30km+ (no blisters or overly-achy feet). However, the cons are overwhelming - a hole has already appeared in the upper, the treads are worn (much lower than I'd have expected for a few months of regular use), traction is extremely bad on wet rock/ice, the laces loosen constantly, and feet do get rather hot and sweaty. Really disappointed, will likely not be coming back to North Face again when it comes to trail running shoes. I previously wore Altra Lone Peaks, and running those into the ground took at least a year and a half. Really expected more out of these shoes. (I also mistakenly wrote this review on the Offtrail TR shoes, but I did actually buy the ones with Gore-Tex in the hopes that it would offer better protection against the elements - it seems to have not)

I would buy these again.

I use these shoes for trail running in winter with my snowshoes and sometimes without. They work great, fit is good and great traction. My feet stay warm and dry.

I would purchase these shoes again

These are one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I cannot wait to wear them in the mountains.

Built tough and sturdy while having great feel to them

These shoes are made very well. The sole is very soft and comfortable. I only have a couple miles on them but they are breaking in good. I use them for work and hiking. The grip is super in the rough stuff.

Love these shoes.

I love the strong durable traction on these shoes. I use them daily while walking to work in Vermont winters. As I purchased the non bright colors, I were these while dressing up with a sports jacket, tie, and dress pants and they blend in.(It's VT so I can be more casual) The waterproofing keeps my feet dry and warm even on subzero mornings. Also, they have been comfortable during my trail runs too.
