Summit Verbier GTX Jacket blends freeride styling with GORE-TEX 3L storm protection

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I’ve been wearing the Summit Verbier GTX Jacket all season, and it’s my go-to for lift laps and sidecountry drops. It’s burly enough for storm days, has a dialed freeride fit, and the venting and storage are exactly where you want them when you’re riding hard."

We ride harder when we know our kit can keep up, and the Summit Verbier GTX Jacket from The North Face delivers the durability and weatherproofing we need to chase lines all season long. With a waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX 3L shell, this freeride-ready jacket shields us from brutal weather while maintaining the breathability we crave when hiking for turns or ripping hot laps.

Every detail is mountain-focused: the helmet-compatible hood adjusts easily on the fly, the underarm vents dump heat without exposing us to the elements, and the integrated powder skirt locks out snow on deep days. From resort to sidecountry, the articulated fit moves with us, and the chest, alpine, and sleeve pockets keep our essentials close at hand without adding bulk. This is the one we trust when the terrain gets steep and the forecast gets wild.

Terrible fit, but very high quality jacket

I just got this year's version of this jacket as a warranty replacement for the same model from the 2023 season. As you'd expect from a $700 TNF product, the quality and materials and fit and finish are top notch. However, the fit is awful. This jacket seems to be designed for short people with large beer bellies. I'm 6'1", 180 lbs, athletic build, wide shoulders, no belly, 44" chest, and I bought this jacket in size L. It fits quite well in the shoulders and chest (bonus points for the high and tight armpit holes and properly long sleeves), but the sleeves themselves have WAY too much material (the width/diameter is absurd, even with the adjustable velcro cuffs tightened all the way). Additionally, the torso of the jacket (below the chest) has SO much extra fabric - it poofs out and looks like I'm wearing a tent. (I guess if I had a big ol' gut, this extra fabric would be appreciated.) Finally, this jacket isn't long enough for my tastes. It barely comes down far enough to cover my butt, meaning that any movement in my arms or shoulders causes the jacket to ride up much higher than I would like.

Men's Summit Series Jackets

Is there a reason there is NO red options the past 2 seasons? I had a great shell, handle on the zipper ripped off so I sent it to The NorthFace warranty dept. Simple enough. I get a letter that it is getting fixed then I get a letter 2 weeks later that it was lost. Given that my whole set up is black/red I can't even buy a new jacket/shell to replace it.

Great product, bad fit

High quality product, I really love the look and feel of this jacket. Attention to detail all over. However, the sizing is terrible. Bought a size medium, I'm 5'8" 160, fit build, and I was swimming in the jacket, and sleeve cuffs were huge after maxing Velcro out. I exchanged for a small, and it fit perfectly except for the armpits. Way too tight, felt like I was wearing my wife's tshirt in the armpit area. Really bummed by the fit, because this jacket is great quality and style.

4 Inches Shorter?

I was pumped to see this season's updated version of the Verbier jacket, but now that I see that its 4 inches shorter in length compared to the previous version... hard pass.
